People who are beloved and die early get a special kind of veneration it seems. I get the backlash and if you're a fan it's gonna be hard to put that aside to enjoy the game. But I suppose it's probably best to just not play it. To try and realize that it may only feel like desecration to yourself but isn't actually an true for everyone immoral act.

kayoss3663d ago

I have no problem with this at all. I got into martial arts because my inspiration of Bruce Lee. I see this as a tribute to one of the greatest fighter to ever lived. This to me is an honor to able to play as Bruce Lee.

joab7773663d ago

Exactly. Why would anyone have a problem with this? Anyway, we need Chuck Norris next. Many think of him as an actor too...but he was almost unbeatable at one time.

Lord_Sloth3663d ago

Agreed. I see no harm at all in paying respects to fallen Martial Artists. I think it's pretty cool actually. XXXD

EximiusNebula3663d ago (Edited 3663d ago )

@joab777 I think including Chuck Norris would be a great idea. I can recreate the scene where Chuck Norris got his a__hwaefho;f8g3bfg8f31h90n' ; i;bibul

thejigisup3663d ago

@joab777 if we get chuck norris we should also get steven segal and jean claude as well

thejigisup3663d ago

@joab777 also a steven segal that would be hilarious and awesome and a jean claude van dam would earn my dlc dollars definitely

cyguration3663d ago

@joab777 Agreed. Jean-Claude too, because he was also unbeatable at one point in the tournament scene. Many expected that had he not become a movie star he could have rivaled Chuck Norris' championship win-streak.

I would PAY to play as Jean-Claude in a UFC game.

Dasteru3663d ago

@joab777:

I think the issue is alot of westerners who are ignorant of traditional martial arts, they see UFC as the only legitimate form of fighting (as if hand-hand combat didn't exist until like 20 years ago) and think that traditional forms are useless. They think that Bruce Lee is a joke who cannot fight.

starchild3663d ago

I agree, this is nothing but a good thing. I was already considering getting the game, but the inclusion of Bruce Lee made me decide to buy it for sure.

NihonjinChick3663d ago (Edited 3663d ago )

I don't get the backlash. It's not like you have to use him.

Then again, I don't play these games, my opinion probably doesn't matter.

TheXgamerLive3663d ago (Edited 3663d ago )

Plain and simple he should only be available in something called Legends mode which isnt a normal playthrough. No points counted towards any ranking. Dont take the realality out of the game. Current ufc roster only.
But as far as Bruce in the vame. I love it. The grandmaster of mma imho.

WeAreLegion3663d ago

My only problem with this is how OP he would be in real life. I can't imagine a UFC fighter would get in the cage with Bruce Lee. Or Tony Jaa. Or Sammo Hung in his earlier days.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3663d ago

No_kidding....First_round_knoc kouts_would_pretty_much_define_ his_career.

king_george3663d ago

@Sharingan

Are you typing like that on purpose lol?

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3663d ago

Unfortunately_my_spacebar_is_b roken_:(

kayoss3663d ago

Samm Hung, will not survive in the UFC cage. He have martial arts background, but most of his techniques are not meant for real life fighting. Its was meant for chinese opera.

Bruce Lee, Tony Jaa, Jet Li, Donnie Yen,
and Jacky Wu are trained in proper fighting techniques. They will survive in UFC.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3663d ago

Jet_Li_wouldn't_survive... Jackie_Chan_would_though.

WeAreLegion3663d ago

Hung did train at the Peking Opera House, like Jackie Chan, but his background in martial arts extends much further than that. He learned many forms after leaving the Opera House. It's just a shame we've only ever seen his work in choreographed films. Have you seen Eastern Condors? Jesus, that movie is brutal. It killed his career, but still.

kayoss3663d ago

@Sharingan_No_Kakashi
Jackie Chan will not survive, like Sammo Hung, he was trained in an Opera house. Jet Li was trained at the Shaolin Temple when he was at a very very young age. Jet Li may not know any grappling moves. But if he was able to get his opponent to stay on their feet he have a chance of beating them.

@WeAreLegion,
I some what agree with you that Sammo Hung extend his martial art background. But he only extend it to do movies and they do not really have any real life use. In a real situation against a UFC fighter he would lose.

CorndogBurglar3663d ago

@ Sharingan

Jet Li was a Shaolin Temply champion when he was 8. I believe he held that title 8 years in a row, as well.

He's not just some Hollywood BS. He's the real deal.

MWH3663d ago

I'd add Bolo Yeung to the roster.

PhilJowns3663d ago

Wow so much bad information. Jet Li, Donnie Yen and Jacky Wu were all Wushu athletes none of them had real fight training. Jet Li was World Champion in forms competition not fighting.

Sammo and Jackie were both training in Peking Opera till 16years old. Sammo learnt a lot more styles after the Opera school and was known to be a very good at real fighting hence why Bruce Lee invited him to be his opponent at start of Enter the Dragon.

Not sure about Tony Jaa but he trained in the old traditional style of Muay Thai so in a stand up fight I think he'd be pretty lethal.

Of all the actors around now Dolph Lundgren would probably do best in UFC as he was a full contact karate champion when hge was younger.

kayoss3663d ago

@PhilJowns
All the guys you listed were all trained and came out of the Shaolin Temple. Jet Li and Jacky Wu starte at a very young age. Donnie Yen join the shaolin temple when he was in his early teens.
These three guys and Tony Jaa did not train for 5-6 years they trained almost their entire life in martial arts. Some of the MMA and UFC guys you see today trained only a 3-5 years and enter the tournament. You're telling me the three guys you mention will lose in a stand up combat to a 3-5 years experienced UFC fighter?

I agree, when it comes to grappling they may or may not stand a chance. but when it comes to stand up combat there is no question about it.

This is one reason why i dont like watching MMA or UFC sometimes. Sometimes it just takes only one lucky punch to take out your opponent.

MWH3663d ago (Edited 3663d ago )

Bolo Yeung, a forgotten name but he was brutal.

Pogue19063663d ago

Its very cool that he's in this game and that was a good read. Bruce Lee didn't fight in the UFC or any of the current leagues around today but he did fight in competitions in Hong Kong. They were fought in regular looking boxing rings. If recall him having won 2 or three tournaments before deciding to open his first school. you may can tell i was a big fan of his. I hope they put in all the churps and the waahhhh!!!noises he made.

BlakHavoc3663d ago

He actually adopted making those noises in Enter the Dragon, his original movies were in Chinese and he never made those stupid noises lol. Once they were brought to the west and dubbed, who ever did his voice over made those dumb noises, but the "Whaaa!" noises suddenly became apart of his legacy so he adopted it.

WheatBread3663d ago

We need a next gen bruce lee game.

Hmm, sounds worth a try for sure.

Strange as a lot of YouTube beta players hated it. They've had years and just copied and pasted ufc 3 ith a few new haircuts

yeahokwhatever1344d ago

its not fight night, so not buying it. do boxing or go home.

nowitzki20041344d ago

Go home and wait for Fight Night.

ActualWhiteMan1344d ago

Same... although they long ago fired all the developers that made FN great. So it would likely be terrible if it came back.

MadLad1344d ago

Comes to a UFC related game to whine about it not being a boxing game.

Ok.

FlavorLav011344d ago (Edited 1344d ago )

Well, for context EA did put in real boxers Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in the game, and Isaac Frost and Andre Bishop from fight night champion in the last game. No getting around it, they have been c@ck teasing boxing fans for years with this sh!t pre-order dlc

yeahokwhatever1344d ago

these UFC games are trash, they play terrible. UFC is not really a good choice for a game because of the limited inputs controllers have. But EA got the license on the cheap, so they've been shoveling this crap at us for years while we wait patiently for a fight night that will probably never happen until Mayweather is dead or runs out of money.

zeroskie1344d ago

Same. I want another fight night so badly.

yeahokwhatever1344d ago

my wishes:
fight night primarily focused on online, like gt sport.
ONLY stick controls. No button mashing. if you try to mash buttons, your characters head explodes and he's permanently deleted from the game.

nowitzki20041344d ago

Same here, I love boxing more than MMA but I also want a good MMA game as well.

shaunh201344d ago

I agree with this review, I tried it only because it's free on EA Access and figured I'd hate it like I did the other games but lo and behold I loved it and plan to buy it now. The game is so much more fun now that they've made it so much less complicated and inaccessible to non-hardcore fighter fans.
