Why we don't need The Last of Us movie

It has a great story, people love zombies and not everyone plays games.

I'll tell you why not
It's already a cinematic game. It masks a lot of the sorest cliches of the zombie genre very well as a game but i doubt it could as a movie. It would be another entry in a completely over saturated genre. Let this movie not ruin its reputation as a potential classic of GAMING.

It is already a Classic Of Gaming, Mario and Tomb Raider still sell even though they had AWFUL movies

That's right, people keep talking about this movie as if it will only appeal to gamers.

Assuming each copy sold was played by more than one person we're still only looking at maybe 10-15 million people that will have played the game. But a movie such as this has a potential audience of many 10's of millions, likely 100's of millions if it's well done.

By that logic Citizen Kane would be a great game because we all like sledding and not everyone has seen the movie.

It is a nice notion, but what works for one medium may not work for another.

I agree, Gamers can be very self centered in that it's not being made for us it's being made for people who don't play games so they can enjoy the story and characters too, if we happen to enjoy it as well then great, if not it doesn't make a difference because we can just keep on enjoying the game

For those that enjoyed The Last of Us, I highly recommend the movie The Road. Very good movie.

Personally I think The Last of Us will transition well to the movies. I just hope they don't try to cater to the teenage crowds, if it is PG13 they failed.

I am very, very concerned with this movie. I don't want it to rob the magic out of the games for those that haven't played it, and for even those that have. It's an experience you have to play to understand, because it's the emulation of actually GOING THROUGH what the characters did.

Don't play games? I say tough. Not everybody reads fiction, but most novels have some of the most engaging stories you can possibly get out of any medium. You don't see my crying for a James Patterson video game, for example. And when people actually do, they b*tch and moan in the end after seeing the finished product.

As much as I loved The Road, book and then the movie, it's nothing like TLOU, except maybe the beards

Titles like this always makes me wonder why in the world can't you see the simple reason behind projects like this ?

It's all about making money for Sony. TLOU exceeded expectations and did so well that a movie would make sense.

By saying " WE " don't need the movie I wonder whom he is referring to because at the end of the day companies like Sony will always try to take advantage of the opportunity.

Personally I am not a big fan of seeing the same COD every year but I understand the reason behind it ( because it sells so well).

Can't beat a good zombi movie as long as it don't get the same director as need4speed. World war z was a great film.

The only way a 'Last of Us' movie will be good if its directed by Sam Raimi or a respected geek director like Joss Whedon or Christopher Nolan. If they get some noob hack to direct it then its going to be awful.

I'm going to get disagree's from hell and back. But I haven't seen a single GOOD movie that came from a video game. I've seen average but not mind blowing awesome. I'm not going to get hyped up for this movie. I'm honestly just getting sick of Zombie's in general. Can we move on from zombies?

It would make a better TV series. A movie wouldn't be long enough to develop all characters.
