You do not buy an apple product for the hardware. You buy it for the software. If you want to play around with photography/editing/sound production you have to fork over some dough. You don't buy an expensive macbook, mac or any mac product because it looks cool and everyone has it. You buy macs for work. And they pay for themselves.
