the first xbox ran 720p with no problem, IT WAS AND IS an HD capable box. That is why SOny called the 360 "xbox 1.5", its really not doing much more than the first one did.
the PS3 has seven SIMD's, which are way better at handling vectors and graphical computations than a SEQUENTIAL core like those intel makes COULD EVER be.

I would invest in a software division to create a Sony brand OS. I would already have a MASSIVE electronics manufacturing base to offer SONY brand pc's, monitors,printers & plotters if they want to, and lets not forget that Sony's massive market penetration and image would be more than enough to convince software developers to support the OS.
In a very short five years I would have MS fighting for their very existence.
