Japan total current-gen game market (Wii + 360 + PS3) = ~17 million.
U.S total current-gen game market = ~70 million.
I love watching some people keep trying to pretend that the U.S. & Japan are even CLOSE to being equal.
Japan is the minor leagues, U.S. is the Majors.
You guys are 100% right. Neither console needs motion control. They are both just fine - and very successful - exactly as they are. Both Sony & MS are just trying to make some extra money by tapping into the Wii market.
But, as long as MS/Sony don't sacrifice hardcore games that 360/PS3 owners expect in order to focus on casual motion controlled games, it's OK with me.
If producing the highest rated console driving sim since 2001 is what you consider "failure to deliver", then you are beyond delusional.
Releasing a game a year later than the competition, then touting superior features is hardly a "smack in the face". Any game that releases a year later than it's competition BETTER have extra features to justify the wait.
Had GT5 released alongside it's competition, and still had all of those features, now that would have been impressive.
It's like Acura bragging that their 2010 model car has more features than Lexus' 2009 model.
No, it's just the country. Why else is 360 doing extremely well nearly everywhere else in the world?
Japan is Wii territory anyways. Wii outsells PS3 and 360 COMBINED by a 2-1 margin in Japan. Everywhere else in the world, PS3 plus 360 equals or outsells Wii.
The Japanese love their Wii's.
Still kicking though, even in the most hostile anti-360 country.
That just proves my point even further. If anything, the 360 version is "gimped", not the PS3 version.
Easy. It's not a fact, it's your opinion.
EDIT - FF13 on PS3 is around 25gb, runs at 720p, with 1080p cut scenes. The 360 version is around 20gb, with lower resolution. The game was downgraded slightly to fit on 360, but that had nothing to do with the PS3 version. SE made the PS3 version, then made it fit on 360. If it was PS3 exclusive, the only difference would have been the release date.
FF13 uses more of the PS3's power than most PS3 exc...
For sheer pick-up-and-play fun, I'd go with the original Star Wars arcade game by Atari. Great looking vector graphics, fun gameplay, voice samples from the movie (a pretty big deal in 1982), and an awesome controller made for a great Star Wars experience.
Xbox 360 & PS2 are not in the same generation. PS2 and Dreamcast are.
Also, 360 has 29 exclusives rated 80+. PS3 has 26.
You do realize that as more and more games are released, that will cause the overall average to drop. Just like what happened with PS2 vs. Dreamcast.
This is nothing more than another attempt to spin numbers by using percentages rather than actual numbers.
360 has more games rated 75+ on metacritic.
PS3 has a higher percentage of games rated 75+, but fewer actual games.
Would you rather have more actual games, or a higher percentage? It's not like you have to play through the bad games to get to the good ones.
The percentage arguement applies only if you choose a game complete...
Actually, it's the other way around now. GT is constantly being compared to Forza.
Alan Wake should receive as much consideration as Heavy Rain.
Both are original games, and have received nearly the same critical acclaim.
Each will receive some votes from various outlets, but so far Mass Effect 2 is the clear leader.
I agree with Mass Effect 2 so far.
I seem to remember last year people were saying that if the highest rated game didn't win GOTY, the voters must be biased.
Nintendo, Sony, & MS all spin the numbers and the news to make themselves look as good as possible. They all spend BIG money on PR.
Either this is fake, or it is proof that Sony measures "shipped", not "sold", when referring to console sales.
Take your pick.

A quick check of Walmart & Best Buy show "in stock" as well.
The "shortage" excuse is getting really old.
"Numerous" chains? So, I guess Amazon alone qualifies as "numerous".
Actually, his comment was just opinion and conspiracy theories, not facts.
"Bookmark this comment and rub it in my face if i am wrong"
It won't matter. You wouldn't believe it anyway. Delusional "media bias" conspiracy theorists like you would be too blind too see the truth even if it was staring you right in the face.
