All good points, not least the poisonous atmosphere fanboys for either of the second and third placed consoles this gen (:)) have created online, but not sure that is anything new...I remember the days of Spectrum vs C64, Megadrive vs SNES, there has always been some pointless war brewing somewhere in gaming, hell, Quake 3 vs UT still brings out some venom. Pretty much everyone whose seen it in action says its the most stunning looking game on this gen of consoles and running at 60 fps. If nothing else ID do great graphics engines.

I can see where he's coming from with the genre idea, but it is probably unworkable. The fact remains that violent and/or adult content games have age ratings for a reason. PC gaming has such a vast back catalogue no-one is ever going to agree on a selection of the ten best games - hell, look at the grief PC Gamer magazine gets every time it does its Top 100.
Unfortunately pagination is only going to increase since Google decided to make fast page loading time one of the criteria for search ranking. It's simply no longer feasible to put everything on one page after that decision.

Totally agree - you can't just run 'n gun in BC2, playing superhero soldier. It requires a whole different mindset to Modern Warfare 2. It gets so annoying when your squad mates blindly run off into the open and get sniped or hole up in a tiny shack with a whopping great enemy tank rolling down the road towards them.

It's all very well celebrating his birthday, Sega, but how about giving him a decent game to appear in after kicking hell out of the poor blue bomber for the last decade? With the issues inherent in stuffing components generating PC levels of heat into console sized boxes, it just isn't worth taking a chance on a used 360 or PS3, esp. when you take into consideration online issues as well.
The framerate is always more important to me than the resolution on console. If it's lurching up and down then a game pretty much becomes a nightmare for me. Obviously, on PC, higher resolutions are necessary to play a game on your monitor's native res, but then most modern gaming PCs can do both framerate and res with ease.
