Actually Sony and Philips and Pioneer were the main 3 that helped create Blu-ray, but they brought in many others to form the association that exist today.
"Thanks to prior development of many groups, including, most notably, Professor Isamu Akasaki's group, Shuji Nakamura at Nichia Corporation and Sony Corporation in Anan (Tokushima-ken, Japan) made a series of inventions and developed commercially viable blue and violet semiconductor lasers."
Make no mistake ...

And just for some of you that love MS. I also dont hate them either, so dont get all bent out of shape about me saying I dont care for them or like them. I still buy their products whether I agree with them or not. I base my purchase on Quality and value and in the beginning the Quality just wasnt there and now its just to late. Maybe next time with them.

And see thats the thing, the PS3 has sold well, but I think this generation for Sony was mostly price mistakes and assuming what the consumer would spend. As well as the PS3 did, think about how many would have sold if it had come out $100 cheaper. It probably would be on top right about now. I know a lot of people that dont have a PS3 and didnt buy one cause they refused to pay that high a price for it and didnt see the value it had and has. First impressions are important, and the first for...

lol..yeah I would love to see anyone beat Contra without even using any continues much less without losing a life. Without the Konami code the fun of playing it would have been replaced with frustration. AHHHHHHH I have to start ALLL OVER... ha ha ha.. love the good old days of having to beat a game on one sitting.

I agree, it is legendary, my brother and I used to play Contra all the time and used this code so much I could say it in my sleep. In fact I still use it playing Contra with my kids on our retron 3 system. You can even buyT-shirts with the code on it. I will never forget this code and kind of thought every gamer from the NES days or before (atari 2600 was my first console) knew of it. Funny that it was in a game show though.

As the father of 2 children, I for one can't wait for this wonder book. It's more than just Harry Potter, it can be any story or book with lots of experiences and...i know this is hard for some of you, but it's learning as well. Looking forward to sitting down for a innovative book with my kids.

I have a Samsung Galaxy that does everything I need it to do, so I will definitely not be missing out on the PS Vita which does the one thing I dont need my phone to do and the one thing that it cant do very well and thats play great games. My phone is strong and runs everything great but the games for it are crap... Would I like my phone to play what I consider to be REAL games, sure.. the dang thing was expensive, it should, but it doesnt... Would I like the Vita to have the ability to make...

I disagree with your "Financial basis". If you need a phone then you are not in the market for any true game device and are not even gonna consider a gaming device, your buying a phone, to even look at a device that isnt a phone would be stupid cause you need a phone. But if your buying a games device mostly for playing games, your arent gonna pick a phone that just happens to play some games. This whole argument is stupid, The PS Vita is for gamers that want a games device, Sony se...

I agree with frosty, I researched both and bought Vizios 65 passive and love it. Couldn't stand the shuttering, darkening or price of the active. No problem with passive.

lol... it wasnt even close to being possible 10 to 15 years ago, not in a way where it was full color, high def and 3d, with head tracking all at the same time..that is why it didnt work. who wants games in all red...lol but now with the little screens that are flexable and lightweight and with 3d in full hd with bluetooth controllers... it could very well take off if done correctly, 15 years ago it was a gimmick, now?... well lets wait and hope.

I just commented on this in another post and I think it could work and could be a huge game changer. A 3d setup would give you a good sense of depth, using the move sharpshooter or even a regular controller that you see as a virtual gun and it being independent so you could still turn your head in other directions maybe even sitting in a desk type swivel chair so you could rotate all the way around to look behind yourself. Having it for games and movies would remove the space between you and ...

Plus think of playing a horror game like dead space or a zombie game.. dang, a 3d setup would give you a good sense of depth, holding the move sharpshooter with an in game virtual flashlight on the end of your in game virtual gun to light your way and it being independent so you could still turn your head in the directions you hear noises. dang.. sure its not real VR but the immersion would be unreal and unnerving. Get it out there Sony.. this would be the perfect step up to PS4. Kind of brin...

I can see this working, Sure you wont actually be able to touch things or walk around. but I can see it giving you more visual immersion being able to turn your head and look all around you and move around using a controller or Move controller cause obviously you would have to be siting, maybe in a desk type swivel chair so you could rotate all the way around to look behind yourself. It wouldnt have to replace tvs as people would still want to watch tv and play together (course you could have...

Oh Im very calm, but I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this particular topic as now its getting down to active 3D verses passive and there are fanboys on both sides. There are advantages from both. I weighed each out (was going to buy active) and came out leaning more toward passive after researching and witnessing both. The pros for active to me were not near good enough to warrant the extra cost and the cons of active far outweighed them. So I went the way I did and do not regret...

I judged for myself (dont care for cnet) and the blacks while not perfect (look up perfect) are BLACK, Im looking at it as we speak, Cnet is so full of it, they also said the 2d is not good.. but guess what... its great. Try it yourself and dont listen to critics who most always have agenda's and favorites.

I've noticed no artifacts, and it doesnt flicker at all.. in fact that was a major turn off for the Active 3D cause it does flicker, or shutter. No tv is perfect and anyone who claims other wise is either lying or doesn't know the true meaning of the word "Perfect"
The TV is well built and high quality though. Is the 3D full high def, No, it is not. Can you notice it unless your standing 3 feet or closer to it? No you can not... and if you have to be 3 feet from th...

I don't let critics do my thinking for me, unless they are buying my TV (products) for me. I work hard for my money and no body else's opinion is going to help me spend it. Others might benefit from this philosophy.

I have this TV and its fantastic. Very high quality, great picture, 3D is outstanding, and gaming on it gives you a lot of immersion. Killzone 3 is great in 3D and even better with the Sharpshooter/Move. Cant wait for Bioshock Infinate, Resistance 3, and even Socom 4... I havent bought that one yet. Motorstorm Apocalypse is really nice in 3D as well.

For those who say Vizio is cheap quality... not anymore they arent, starting out that may have been true and it helped them ga...

Actually no, your wrong.. The Vizio can very easily do the split screen full screen coop. I made it possible on mine in less than 5 minutes. So anyone with a passive 3d tv can do this, all you do is switch one lens each from 2pairs of glasses and you have it, like I said..mines 65 inches and it works great....im mad I didnt think of it myself sooner...oh and vizio showed this off at a electronics show over a year ago...so I doubt sony has a patent on it....
