You know, regardless of the group's political slant, generally all special interest groups like this are full of crazy people with too much free time. PETA, the PTC and the NRA in particular annoy the crap out of me for their generally complete lack of common sense, reason, and amazing ability to turn pretty much any topic into a "they're out to get the animals/your guns/your children!!" type of illogical rant that makes me wonder why anyone, anywhere takes them seriously en...
We agree (obviously)!
Frankly, without the Den Defense missions, and with a little tweaking of the free running (which is well overdue), the game could have scored even higher.
I can appreciate the idea of a contrary review. But sometimes it's better to know that you can't give a game a fair review and pass it off to someone else, than it is to write one that doesn't jive with reality.
Yes, because just because the game wasn't for you, you could see it's positive qualities. People who write reviews while considering only their own perspective are doing a disservice to their readers. I might be awful at racing games, but I can look at Gran Turismo or Forza and appreciate it, even if I know it's not for me.
There is a general standard of quality associated with those numbers. 4/10 is a game like X-Men: Destiny that is largely broken and unacceptable. A 7 or 8 would have been more acceptable, even if it were an outlying low score.
Truth be told, the controls feel a little "loose" for my taste, and some of the enemies have a more hardy constitution than 50 Cent in a shooting (at least he went down after 9 bullets, even if he didn't die).
But the storytelling is impeccable, and it's hardly a 4/10 game. Frankly, there's no defense for a review like this.
Thanks!
We played through it on the 360 and encountered no issues.
This review is spot on. This game could have been so much more.
The problem with judging this game vs the user ratings is that it is a niche title. As such, one would expect the people who are interested in it to like it a lot....and everyone else will likely pass on it. As such, that will tend to inflate user scores.
Wasn't a fan of the first game. Wanted to like it, but didn't. I'm hoping for more tight controls this time around.
Too much focus on the casual gamers and 3D tech at all three press events this year.
Use a different hero, Kelso being the heir apparent in that department as the D.A. Investigator.
I touched on a lot of my issues with the game in my review of it, but my biggest issue with the game is the same issue I have with every Rockstar game. The controls are mediocre. I don’t like the gunplay very much, and I don’t like the driving very much. On the plus side, those elements are not the center of the gameplay, unlike GTA4.
Also, I could stand without being funneled towards a resolution to every case. Sure there are potentially different outcomes, but I think that ...
Well, THAT didn't take long. Although the idea of playing a Disney game where you double tap a terrorist above the left eye does seem a bit.....off.
Yeah, this one's a no brainer. There might not be anything in games worse than an escort mission. Except maybe underwater levels....
L.A. Noire does look like it could be great. But it seems like he doesn't like games very much anymore if that's the ONLY game he's looking forward to.
Is this a good thing for the hardcore gamer? Yes, absolutely. But Nintendo clearly didn't plan as long term this console generation as Sony and Microsoft did. And they've sold so many Wii's that I think they're risking alienating all those casual gamers they brought into the fold by bringing out a new system so quickly.
The "problems" with Bioware's games are so minute they can be covered within a review. They do not need 10 sentence long flame bait articles.
The combat in Dragon Age: Origins simply doesn't work on the console. By comparison, the combat in Dragon Age II, while perfect for the consoles, leaves a lot to be desired on the PC since Origins was a perfect fit for the PC. If Bioware really wants to capture both audiences, they need to develop the two platforms differently, leaving ths action combat in the console version, and the tactical point & click combat in the PC version.
