@goldby - I have a hard time understanding what they mean by that. I figure the headset cables must use different plug styles or something on this newer headset. Since the back of the processing box is a USB and 2 HDMI ports which obviously cannot change.

I think it has something to do with the newer processing box using different HDMI ports. Say 2.0 instead of 1.4 or something like that.

yeah, the HDR passthrough is a welcome addition for those who have yet to buy it. Frustrating that I can't just keep my processing box plugged in all the time. Revisions are to be expected, but usually they are small revisions to help keep costs down or larger revisions when it's a new model being introduced. A bit sad that they are fixing an oversight and leaving us early adopters out in the cold.

WCW vs NWO World Tour on the N64!

The glory days, lol.

that would work for me if my 4 HDMI ports weren't all used up by other components.

@EDMIX - logic is when I have to go out and buy an additional accessory to fix an oversight by Sony? Wow, sounds like a gamer friendly solution.

@lukferr - question for you. If I connect a switch between the PS4 and the processing box that allows me to bypass it, how do I connect both ends to the TV? Now I have to use 2 separate HDMI ports? One for VR and one for regular PS4? Seems kinda silly.. my TV sadly only has 4 HDMI ports and my cable box, 4K blu ray player, PS4...

ummm.. no I guess

Sorry for being excited for Sony and wanting to show my support for them.

I fully expect there to be revisions to future models. Ones that improve latency, screen resolution, refresh rate, ergonomics, etc. But I don't expect there to be a version 1.2 that corrects a flaw in the first unit and then Sony looks at me with shrugged shoulders saying "you mad bro?".

Give me the option to at least buy a separa...

@EDMIX - you are a real twit you know that? Do you even own a PSVR? Do you understand what is required when switching between HDR and non-HDR games? The scenario Zeke posted is exactly the problem us VR/Pro owners face. There is nothing fake about it.

Why don't you go back to bashing Switch articles, it's the only thing you seem to be good at.

@TFJWM - actually they never specifically said what was different about the cabling. I mean the box is just a box with plug outlets in it. Unless they changed the shape of the USB port or the HDMI port (which is impossible) I don't see why I couldn't use this new box. The wording is very vague. Regardless, it's a little bit of a disappointment as HDR passthrough is something that should have been there from the start. Good for new adopters I guess.

are you sure doing this isn't a result of getting tasered as your roll around on the ground? :P

@subtenko - but I have a PSVR.. do you even read the comments you reply to?

2396d ago 2 agree4 disagreeView comment

some of them do. Absolutely. I have had a blast with Until Dawn, Farpoint, Resident Evil 7, EVE, Project Cars, Superhot..

I am not talking about pricing here, and Batman was still pretty expensive when it first came out. $30 for something that you really might only play once or if you needed to demo it to someone else. But I have paid $5 for a a game and it has given me hours upon hours of enjoyment. Price means nothing when it comes to quality.

It is a nice little device, but I enjoy my PS4 quite a lot too. They both have my attention.

technically you also unplug the existing HDMI cable that was in the PS4 that was going to the processing box as well. It's 2 cables you have to swap around. While that isn't a huge ordeal, it can still be a little frustrating. Depending on your entertainment unit and how everything is set up it could be really simple or not as much. Fortunately I am not using my PSVR that much, so I just unplug it all when I am not using it. Although it would have been nice to leave everything ho...

yeah, in a closed off entertainment unit. Sounds fun huh?

@seniyah - to be honest this was something that should have been in place from the start. The Pro launched basically at the same time, so it's not like 4K or HDR content was foreign or years away.

@Abriael - yeah I am hopeful they would sell it separately. I mean the USB and HDMI cables didn't change, just the ports were updated to a newer HDMI standard. I mean the design is a little different, but the only cabling I see that is actually different are the ones that plug in from the headset to the box itself.

Anyways, time will tell. It's not the end of the world if I can't update the box, but it is super annoying having to unplug the cabling in order t...
