Fallout was a niche pc series before Fallout 3 released on the PS3 and 360, Tomb Raider has been around since the original Playstation. Tomb Raider has always been closely associated with the Playstation brand. Microsoft for better or worse courted the dude bro shooter crowd and they are finding out how difficult it is to escape that fate. I hope this practice of buying up exclusivity goes away, I think its foolish and only hurts the fans of IP's that end up going this route.
The mistake was making it a timed exclusive, Microsoft just doesn't have the clout to pull this off. Sony hit a home run with MetalGearSolid 4 on the PS3 but other than that 3rd party Timed exclusives generally don't do as well as they would have if they were multiplatform from a sales perspective.

Sony routinely outsold the 360 worldwide for nearly the entire generation overcoming an 8 million console deficit. They had the superior hardware, unmatched first party catalog, better exclusives, and free online.. Dont know where this misconception that they did poorly last gen comes from.

Sony had BC in the PS3 and most scoffed at the console, even crying foul despite Sony taking large losses on every console sold for several years. @Mulando The PS3 had backwards compatability with PS2 games but everyone wined and complained about the consoles price despite being the most robust and feature packed console. Agreed begining with the gamecube ive not liked nintendo consoles primarily because of their awful controllers. I hated the Wii mote.. The Wii U tablet is good a little uncomfortable..

Im sorry but the X1 version hitting 0FPS and sometimes stuttering and downright freezing for upwards of a second at a time does not equate "slightly better overall experience" on PS4.

Not necessarily true. Evan Wells confirmed in an interview that they do a lot of concepting worker while the coders are finishing up the current project. I'd be willing to bet that they have a story locked down, and the design phase is well under way.
Ive been a Sony guy since the beginning and they've never given me a reason to not support their systems. So personally the PS4 is right for me. Doesn't mean thats the case for everyone just my personal preference.

Square Enix was not happy about the Tomb Raider reboot's sales in the previous generation despite selling over 4 million, what makes you think they are happy about 300k week1? I assure you they are not. Yes that huge money hat they recieved from MS is sure to offset some of that but this game not being a multiplatform is a mistake no matter how you slice it.
