Unless MS announces something you can only get on nextbox, the X will be my last MS console. I have a gaming pc and upgrade it at least once every 7 years in full. If any exclusives are actually good I will just get them there. But I dont think they care about console sales anymore. They are trying to find a battle they can win and their money should help them with cloud.

If any version if any next gen console doesnt have the ssd, it will hold back its higher tiered brother. Mark my words ssd's are about to become mandatory.
Im just going off the demo they showed the wired interviewer. They said that spiderman swinging down the street goes by at the maximum speed;set by how fast the hdd could load in new information ...then they showed the max speed on the devkit and he said it was like a jet speeding by. Loading screens being 1 second is just a secondary benfit. Again this was the wired interviewer saying that he was shown this.

I disagree, the ssd asset loading will make first party games more advanced than anything else. Ps2 to ps3 jump.

The xbox bypasses some limits to enhance games, there are no additional assets added. Sony's version would add assets if patents come to fruition. This is all hypothetical.
Limited backwards compatibility 3 years in is miss-timed. Xbox has never offered a fully bc platform( one where you didnt have to look at a list to see if you could play your game).360 had a list and xb1 has a list.

Im super hyped about the asset loading aspect of the ssd. Im just thinking of the game revolution that can come of that. No game has ever required an ssd to run as a minimum spec, even on pc. This requirement will be there next gen. There has always been a max speed one can traverse a detailed open world, this will expand it greatly. $500 would be an easy Yes.
Articles keep focusing on the loading screen aspect of the ssd...whereas the bigger deal is the asset streaming aspect. Being able to load open worlds without seeing the assets stream in.
Think ES:Oblivion and Skyrim. The ugridstoload value and how you could run across the map fast enough to cause loading hitches mid stride( oblivion). On pc the default value was 5. The grid you are in and the 4 around it( i believe). With ini tweaking one could put it as high as 13 before...
There will always be at least 1 console. That market isnt just going to go away anytime soon.
I have been thinking about it recently. Does anyone know why, for real bc ( ps2-ps3, wii) and presumably ps5, was fully bc? Why didnt publishers have a say in if their games would be bc? I assume it is because the code was unaltered.
I still love it but my gripe was with the nose part of the rubber mask. It would irritate my skin so much that I had to cut that part off.

It isnt a 480p display. Not even close. It is a 1080p display unless you have one eye.

I know its a real good conversation, but a big part of me thinks we wont get a new leap in VR if the next headsets are held back by a base version.
They are just going to have 3rd part headsets on xbox whenever they do it. One foot in.
That doesnt seem to be the case, the budget I mean. The real problem is these studios are starting at square one and dont have any proven AAA studios yet with an ip under them. It will take years to get there.
Wont happen as Cerny alluded to with his SSD demo. Ps5 exclusives are being planned to take advantage of the customized SSD.
