The time most developers waste for graphics, physics etc, can instead go to implement new things into the gameplay, UI, characters etc. I wonder why Blizzard's games is so popular, it sure is not the poly-count.

The funny thing is that even when the PS3 got titles like SF4, RE5, Yakuza 3 and FF XIII demo. They still fall behind in the end when it comes to sales.

I think they will only upgrade the harddrive to 160 GB, because the gap between PS2 and PS2 slim was like 4 years. But It would be a smart decision to release a redesign.
