I think blaming Sony for their mistakes, rather than "whiny gamers" for somehow forcing them to make the mistakes is somehow more appropriate - and grounded in reality.
I think people criticize Sony because they make mistakes, rather than any desire to - as you put it - join any "kool ranks". I believe this is also more firmly grounded in reality.
So we're blaming "whining Americans and Japanese" for Sony taking out hardware BC for our Aussie $999 launch PS3?
I think it'd be more accurate to apportion the blame squarely at Sony.
You should just read the article man. Judging by what you said, it's pretty obvious you didn't. It's got nothing to do with file format. It's capped at 4000 songs and confirmed by Sony.
Ok, so if one wasn't excited by some games running on "TARGET HARDWARE" (as confirmed by Guerilla and others), with no sign of the actual hardware , even a "target design" - they're either "idiots" or "ps haters"?
9} let us get achievements on same console with multiple players.
It's been able to do that since day one.
Yeah completely. I can see where they're coming from with this strategy.
I just think it's become easier for MS to top that reveal. Can we call it a reveal? I mean we didn't see the console, or anyone playing it, we just saw some videos - some 9 months old - that we were told were "running on PS4".
After that presentation, I'd argue that the reverse was true - that MS now has all the time they need for their reveal - which will come ...
Gee - that was disappointing.
I didn't expect full specs, or playable demos for attendees - or even a price or firm release date.
But I at least expected to see a picture of the console.
I mean it didn't even have to be turned on, or plugged into a monitor.
I'd say MS are having a laugh right now.
His point is that it's not a universal/built in OS thing. This is miles apart from signing in for each individual game.
If you've got a friend over (or indeed if you're over at a friends house)- or even if your flatmate or partner enjoy some splitscreen/co op gaming sessions - you can't both sign in on the startup screen, then go from game to game, perpetually both signed in - in every single game.
By all accounts, the PS4 will allow/accommo...
Don't forget - custom soundtracks for every game, iPod connectivity, ability to play any disc based game installed to the hdd (quicker loading/less wear on the laser - and silent), voice and photo messaging, cross platform (360/pc) messenger connectivity, multiple account logins simultaneously across all games, every arcade/downloadable title having a trial/demo - and that's just off the top of my head - and you don't even have to pay for gold membership for any of that.
Well after the update, there's now a Sony Pictures app in the app marketplace.
That's all I've noticed.
I live in Australia though, it may be different in other regions.
Think of it this way...
If they don't bring a new model out with some of the improvements people who held off on buying (and remember, there's 60 million plus people who bought the psp, and haven't yet, for whatever reason, bought a Vita yet) - stick to the same model, sales continue as they have, maybe with some slight improvement - lets say they improve %10 year on year for the next 3 years - you're still looking at 15 million or so sold by 2016. By which ti...
Go and read his blog. http://ilikecode.wordpress....
Really, you're just making stuff up now!
He calls Nintendo and Sony stumbling failures. There were actually quite a few dimensions to his opinions. And he follows up in the comments section to flesh out where he's coming from, and clearly states it is his opinion. Interesting, long comments section too - eve...
Um no.
Dvd and bluray playback is region locked on ps3.
The reason it's not my primary bluray/dvd player. I should note that I live in Australia, and have eclectic tastes, that aren't fully catered too with local releases.
360's DVD is region locked too( even though %75 of the games are region free, as opposed to the Ps3s %99) too, but please let us stick to speaking the truth here.
Man. I put 100's of hours into that game. Got limit breaks and Ultimate Weapons for all but 2 of my characters. Insanely cruel Chocobo racing perfects, lightning strike and Blitzball season sidequests. I played that game every night for at least 2 months - probably three.
And I have the memory card (somewhere) to prove it.
And I feel DIRTY!
Absolutely. When Sony said they were out to "replace the PC" with the impending PS2 - MS listened.
It's funny - the PSX playing music CD's - with a visualiser , which in itself - was mindblowing in 1995) - started this whole "media box" thing.
The PS2 was the Trojan Horse for DVD - and Sony's stated intention to replace your PC with the PS2 - which didn't really work out that generation, and I guess the removal of OtherOS...
I guess most people also missed the part where he called Sony and Nintendo "stumbling failures".
I also guess most people didn't read beyond the headline before they started typing.
Here's his blog - http://ilikecode.wordpress....
He actually takes Xbox to task for many things it does BETTER than its competitors (eg. updates/UI) - ju...
If anyone actually read the article - his main point is that it's hard for indie devs to get their games up on XBLA. He acknowledges the media box thing, but has no problem with it specifically, just that he feels the focus should be on getting more indie games on there.
He says it's a $10,000 fee to register as a developer- which it is if you want to be on the main part of XBLA. And that as a result of this - a "whole generation" of indies have gone to iph...
Good article.
Truly for me, as you stated, the rot began with FFX.
Suddenly - corridors hours long. No card game. Rather tame sidequests. Grid system?
I still can't understand why anyone who loved VII,VIII or IX could think it was a "breakthrough". For me it was the beginning of the decline.
Yeah. I agree.
A simpler analogy - Let's say Ford released a car this year in the style of the classic T-model. It wouldn't matter if the engine inside was a fuel injected modern engine, or an old diesel engine - it'd still be a 2013 t model Ford.
Or simpler - You may have a smaller brain, be less strong, and less agile than your Daddy - but you're still Next Generation.
This is how console generations have always worked.
I didn't think Tearaway was until next year?
