Microsoft has no incentive to add online multiplayer to Xbox Live Silver. Their Gold renewals would nosedive immediately. Quite a few people don't care about all the third party apps Microsoft puts behind the Gold paywall. Many use XBLG primarily for gaming. Drop the fee and they stop paying.
The only thing that will force Microsoft's hand is enough people stop paying all together and jump ship to Sony or Nintendo. #2.1.2
What year are you living in, jacksheen? Have you been following Nintendo in any capacity over the last 12 years?
On the N64, Nintendo came out swinging with Mario 64. It was one of the first 3D games to be done competently. The camera worked and the game didn't run at 10 frames per second.
On both the Gamecube and Wii, Nintendo created some of the best looking games available. Super Mario Galaxy looks fantastic considering the hardware it was running on.... #5.3
Oh how quickly we all forget what a console launch period is like.
The Wii was the exception, not the rule. All things considered, the game lineup is fairly thorough compared to recent console launches. Nintendo Directs are offering something Sony and MS are not: a regular stream of news/major announcements throughout the entire year. There's not much to complain about here. It would be great for the Sony/MS to run with this idea as well.
This is why some games tell you to go outside at the end of the credits. It's clear these guys don't get that far into the credits. Once that Platinum pops up, it's disc swap time.
They could go the Nintendo route but in all likelihood, they won't. Microsoft wants to own the living room, and like it or not, that means having Blu-Ray.
IF they don't include Blu-Ray they'll be spouting that consumers have moved on to digital content (all while they continue to sell games on discs).
The next Xbox will probably play Blu-Rays though. #37

The Metro design, to me, adds a lot of fluff that doesn't need to be there. The original 360 dashboard was very efficient. #5
This is pee-in-a-jar territory. #30
