Loving games, loving life.

Looking at Rodgers' stats this season, he was really, really good. He played extremely well, and winning the Super Bowl while beating tough teams to get there does put him in a favorable spot to win.

I loved these games. Didn't really think about how sad it is until now that we won't get another Tony Hawk game (at least for now, I bet there will be a resurgence). But this is the glory years.

A lot of excellent points here. I like that this discussion is focused around trying to define what makes a team #1.

I’m not in any way misunderstanding anything. This is just an attempt at opening up a dialogue, a discussion about how these things work, and what the better approach is.

In my opinion, a team can be better than the sum of its parts. And by mentioning that the Red Sox added guys like Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez, you’re still imply...

Can't disagree with your points. But #1 overall to the Red Sox, a non-playoff team?

Basically, that's the speculative side of the argument. I think the fact is, the Giants won it all, so why wouldn't they be represented as the team to beat to start the season, and launch the game? Game updates can change as the season wears on anyways.

For the record - Brewers fan.

Couldn't agree more. But it's still interesting that there really is two approaches to making an annual sports game in my eyes.

Some people seem to think that the #1 team doesn't have to be the winning team.

Well, it was about being a niche show, but they also proved through 163 episodes that they had more to talk about than say, IGN's Three Red Lights, all banter included.

If you listen to the interviews included in this final episode, you'll hear all the interesting things about sports games and the way they're developed that even if you're not a sports game fan, you'll appreciate them.

Not many podcasts can accomplish that.

I'm sure there's still some people first getting Wii Fit now. It's "evergreen," as they say.

Still, I can't imagine any scenario that results in a broken foot.

Most of the problems you're having is likely related to your connection to the internet, not the service itself. I've streamed to my 360 and other devices without a hitch.

Plus, the Wii demographic is much larger than you think. There's a lot of families, which includes males especially age 25-40, that own a Wii. You're not paying extra to stream it to all these devices, it's just another option. And yeah, it has a bunch of things on it that's great for families and kids, so ...

I look at it this way: if I can get by watching standard-def TV on occasion or watching an older movie that isn't in HD, then this doesn't bother me one bit.

I'm more concerned about buffering issues and framerate problems. I don't want my movies to stop every few seconds, or even minutes, to load.

You make a really strong point. In the interview, they said a few times that they want to be "ubiquitous on all devices."

In other words, Netflix wants to be EVERYWHERE. If you could stream video to your toaster, Netflix would hop on that, too.

The Wii doesn't have direct, viable competition for streaming video, Netflix could corner that market. And the audiences are one in the same. If they could get Nintendo to put the Netflix disc in the console bund...

Actually, they directly say that not only is the selection underwhelming, but it isn't in full HD or in 5.1 surround sound or anything. It isn't the big "HD experience" that some people would have you believe.

They said it was underwhelming in both ways, for the selection and the technical side of it.

I'm surprised that a big company like Netflix would actually kind of diss their own HD service because they want people to use the Wii service in the Spring.

Anyone else find that kind of odd?

I'm not so sure. Fatal Frame IV didn't come to the US, but that game was SO Japanese that Nintendo probably thought it would be lost on the NA audience.

I just can't tell if Nintendo would think this game would do well in North America. I think everyone just wants to see them try. I'm still holding out for Retro Studios to do something big though.

Knowing the general games press and how hardcore games are received on the Wii, I'm sure it would be put up to maximum scrutiny. It probably wouldn't get past a B+ on a lot of sites' score systems.

I'm shocked that they've been working on this game for 3 years. I never would have guessed that they've had a gory, decidedly mature game in the works that long.

It makes me wonder if development was delayed at any point, Nintendo may have gotten "carried away" with their mass appeal projects.

I haven't been this excited about a Pokemon game in years.

The only thing that could get me more pumped would be a Pokemon MMO on the Wii, or a new Pokemon Snap on the Wii.

After all the bad press this game has gotten, calling it a pretty direct rip-off of God of War and all, I don't think I would have even gotten the game if it were a 10/10.

I haven't obviously played it, so I wouldn't know. That's why I read reviews. This definitely isn't on my list. It sucks for those developers though.

It's pretty unfortunate that with a game like Mass Effect 2, which pushes the boundaries of storytelling in a medium that keeps trying to prove itself to the masses, there are still folks complaining about stuff like this.

I wouldn't simplify it that much. Sonic Rush was different. And this is a DIRECT sequel to the original series, which hasn't been updated since 1994.

Plus, making games like this for handhelds compared to downloadable titles on home consoles is completely different too. It's great to see the WiiWare, XBLA, and PSN services getting something big like this.

Playing these games on the big screen instead of a handheld is so, so very different though.
