With the exception of its characters, Uncharted has no through line. They are truly sequels, telling a complete and self-contained story. The 3rd game was a disappointment because there was no expectation of the story or canon. The only thing to expect was gameplay. The writing, in all honesty, could have been absent and it wouldn't have changed the experience in any meaningful way. Besides, you can always just make another Uncharted.
Mass Effect is a true trilogy - each ...
Almost too much so. Let's hope they tweak the AI also.
Dumb doesn't describe it. Greedy, unconstitutional, and totalitarian are better adjectives.
Carlito, you need to wake up and become aware of these bills and the damage they could cause if passed into law. Jeeves is totally right. As for this article...
"...are fighting back against our rights to the freedom of speech and the integrity of the internet as we now now it."
The author lost all my respect with this one sentence. Proofread your shit, gentlemen. I weep for the written language sometimes.
"then go somewhere else"
This is the main difference between him and the rest of the gaming world. And I doubt most of us would post a video bragging "I'm teh world record master!"
I love that he's blowing himself over all these "world records." A world record is based on skill, asshat. This is like me turning on a treadmill to max speed then hopping off for 12 hours and claiming I set a treadmill speed/distance record. (Not my best analogy, but you get my point.)
Well-played Virus. Have a bubble.
disagree with Morganfell and others.
It's not flamebait to ask that the people writing our games strive to a higher level. I don't expect groundbreaking from ND. I expect the best of very well established formulas. They don't reinvent the wheel as much as they polish it and make it gleam.
But I agree with the author that, from the trailer at least, the tone of The Last Of Us may have missed some great opportunities to elevate game writing. Only ti...
lol @ VGA's only becoming relevant once UC2 won.
OT: I'm okay with Gears 3 not being nominated. It felt like a rehash of every other Gears game and really didn't add much of anything in the way of gameplay and especially story. (Haven't played the MP much so can't really comment on that.) Ultimately, it was a disappointing conclusion to the series.
But most of those same complaints could be leveled at UC3, too.
So explain that endgame then. What do we know about Sully & Drake that we didn't before? And we do learn about them that directly expands upon the Uncharted theme or deepens the player experience?
It was all fluff. Superfluous, unnecessary fluff. And worst of all, it went absolutely no where.
You should have kept reading because he qualifies those remarks and backs up his opinion with very specific examples. I agree with him. This game's story left me very unfulfilled.
Loved rewatching that trailer. Jesus. Still brings tears to my eyes.
Wow, DragonKnight. I haven't seen such blind ignorance since the last Republican debate.
I bought a launch PS3 and compared to my new slim, it was such a ripoff: louder, less efficient, greater risk of YLOD. It's true the slim might have less USB/card slots but let's be honest, the vast majority of users barely touched the card slots, and two USB slots is plenty. And as for BC...really? You're actually popping PS2 games in there with the bevy of PS3 goodies? W...
@ morganfell
So would something like this fit your definition for an "objective review?"
The Dark Knight
This is the second Batman film from Chris Nolan. It was shot using film. There is lighting. They used lenses. It has a villain and a hero. The hero changes throughout the film. Some of it is shot in IMAX which is rare and never before seen in a studio film. There are explosions and music and dialogue. Together, these things work together ...
What's the second number in the rating? Maybe sound. If so, this doesn't surprise me. PS3 does high quality lossless 7.1 surround. 360 maxes out at standard DD 5.1. If you're a nerdy home theater enthusiast, this does make a difference.
Not everything is about graphics. RS was never a particularly beautiful game, it was how it played that was awesome.
even with all the best looking games on consoles are only on ps3
KZ3/Uc3/GOW3
They may be pretty, but it's kind of a bummer only one of them is actually fun to play... =)
Yeah, this is just a rubbish comment.
However, in the area that truly matters IMO - the melee and gameplay - all three pretty much look the same. Forget the fact that they're bad comparisons. It's easy to push your bandwidth and pixels when you switch over to a pre-render, as a lot of the cutscenes in UC are.
Still. Excited for the game. As soon as I finish Arkham.
Awesome. From Gears to ICO/SOTC to Arkham and UC. What a great season of games.
Do you guys bitch and moan this much when Ebert drops half a star from a review? Reviews are opinions, numb nuts. Always have been. Always will be. You shouting at the rain doesn't make it any less wet.
