the cod series will probably finally get a new engine when they move to next gen. Black ops 2 this fall might be the last major cod designed specifically for this gen. I am thinking IW`s next title will be next gen and maybe SH will port a dumbed down version for current gen.

Ubisoft aleady announced 10/30/13 as the release date, for the US at least.

@logicwins,

that is true but I still think that because there's so many COD players that even if a fraction of them decided to get a Vita it would be a huge boon for the console.

between the PS3/360, MW3 has sold over 12 million copies in the US alone. If even 10% of those cod players got a Vita to play cod, that's 1.2M potential customers right there. To put that into perspective, the Vita shipped under 200k consoles at launch in the US and has ship...

maybe it could be an option then. having stats carry over would give players more incentive to play since they can continue to level up while playing on the vita. otherwise i think some players would feel playing the vita version would be a waste of time.

@logicwins

I disagree, i think the Vita needs COD...at least in the states. what other killer app do they have right now? Uncharted was a great launch title but I don't really see anything else on the horizon that will push major units.

As much as ppl on here hate on COD, especially Sony fans, the reality is that in America the top 3 PS3 games in lifetimes sales are all COD titles by a wide margin. If COD Vita is on par with the console versions, I ...

cross platform integration with the ps3 version. they should still have separate servers for vita and ps3 but players stats should be able to carry over between platforms.

For single player it's a draw for me since I don't particularly enjoy the campaigns from either developer. IW is more flashy but their storytelling sucks, Treyarch tells a more coherent story but lacks the epic-ness of the IW games.

It's a close call but I still have to go with IW. I will give Treyarch credit for being better at adding innovative features that are outside of the actual MP gameplay but they have basically just followed IW's lead when it comes to gameplay.

Here's some features that Treyarch did first:
-In depth stats (IW still has not matched them, you need to go into Elite to get the level of detail that Black Ops had right within the game)
-Zombies (IW coun...

How will it work for current owners who don't have all the DLC? If we download the F2P version to get all the maps, will we be able to use our current online profile or will it make us restart at level 1?

Vita sales in Japan plummeted after the first week despite the holiday season. 3DS also struggled worldwide after a strong initial launch. My gut feeling is that the Vita will follow the same pattern.

No, I don't think so. If anything, co-op is the new single player. No matter how good an AI is, fighting AI can never match going up against human opponents.

Regarding PS Plus, I see there is value in it and I wouldn't doubt that the paying users have been able to justify the fees but I question how successful it's been. Sony has never revealed subscriber numbers so that leads me to believe that it has not really taken off.

Same thing with PS Home, there's probably a loyal group of users who are active but as a whole I don't think the service has been a success either.

I'm not here to tras...

Not sure what you're referring to regarding bubbles. I won't lie, I don't post on here often but I don't see why that should be used against me.

I can understand PS Plus has some value but only to a niche audience. For the majority of gamers, there just isn't much incentive.

all the fanboys who disagree, please explain why these aren't failures. i'll admit it's too early to call the Vita a failure but it's hard to argue that the others listed aren't.

Six Axis - Very few games utilized this technology.
PS Home - Does anyone use this?!
PS Move - No killer apps. Got it's ass handed to it by Kinect
PSN Plus - Worthless service. Free game trials for old games? Marginal discounts on old PSN titles?...

Six Axis, PS Home, PS Move, PSN Plus....Sony has had epic fail after epic fail this gen. PS Vita will be another one to add to the list.

If you're going to go through the effort to make a video with a fake release date, at least do some research (i.e., look at a calendar) before picking some arbitrary date that is completely inconsistent with the series or with the gaming industry in general. Who the hell releases games on a Wednesday?

They won't be competing with BO2. It's going to be Medal of Honor: Warfighter vs. Black Ops 2 this Fall. Next year will be BFBC3 vs. MW4 or whatever Infinity Ward's next game will be called

4435d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I expect the Respawn game to come out next Feb/March and BFBC3 to come out October 2013. EA is smart to establish their FPS franchises this gen and then keep the momentum going into the next gen.
