I will definitely buy if they do a price drop here in the U.S.!
The price cut doesn't "spell trouble" it means that the XB1 IS in trouble and MS is trying desperately to spur sales.
This author does not understand what the term "smoke and mirrors" means... Smoke and mirrors in the context of the headline would imply that the PS4 is not really outselling the XB1 (or that the lead is closer than we think) and that Sony is hiding that fact and muddying up the issue... The article does not take that position and the article is really about why there is a 2:1 sales gap between the 2 systems. DICTIONARY DEFINITION OF SMOKE AND MIRRORS: The obscuring ...
Dude... READ the article... READING IS POWER! There are some retailers that are doing PS4 promotions. This is not a Sony price drop.
@Webbyy Since it is obvious that you did not read the article, it was the retailers that instituted the promotions. It is not an official Sony price drop.
Dude, I understand your point, but your choice of "journalists" is just ridiculous.... As Bigpappy said, only Cooper and Williams are journalists. Grace and Hannity are hacks who are self-promoting fools disguised as journalists/talk show hosts/rabble-rousers. Unless you were trying to be funny... I hope.
I don't think that anyone thought the full SH was exclusive. Just P.T. that was exclusive.
"In fact, last week was our single biggest PS4 hardware sales week since Christmas 2013! That’s a lot of PS4s." Wow... can't wait to see NPD next month! Gonna be a HUGE month for the PS4.
@Neonridr My comment was about "PERCEIVED" value. The fact is that the XB1 has a lower perceived value by the general public at this time than does the PS4. The Wii U is in sort of the same boat as the XB1. But, that doesn't mean that it is a bad system. Personally, I am like you and the PS4 is more suited toward my tastes. But, the Amazon best sellers list and the other sales charts out there like NPD (or the NY Times Bestsellers list for books or the iTun...
Yep... the PS4 has not changed its packaging at all (other than the white Destiny bundle)... but, honestly, the XB1 has not been able to get traction against the PS4 even with the free game promotion, the Madden for free bundle, the Titanfall for free bundle or the Forza for free bundle or the Kinect-free XB1 package. The only wild card left is the Halo MCC, although I still think that PS4 will "win" the holiday season.
The fact that it went up in the Amazon charts and then fell IMMEDIATELY after the deal ended should tell you something about the perceived value of the XB1. But, even with the free game promotion, it never rose above the PS4 in the Amazon chart and was below both the PS4 standalone and PS4 Destiny bundle.
@xer0 Ain't gonna happen, but I would consider buying one for that promotion! 5 games (total value=$300) plus a year of Live (value=$60) plus the XB1 for a cool $399! Throw in an extra controller and Kinect while you are at it! ;)
This article is poorly written. Gaming Worm needs an editor.
I'm starting to notice a little "clickiness" on R1. Feels a little "sticky" but it is not affecting anything. I just feel it when I depress it all the way, especially when playing Diablo.
Sony does buy studios. But, tell me when Sony has ever taken an IP and made it exclusive in the same generation to "take it away" from rival platforms. And, no, it was not the original Tomb Raider that was caused by Nintendo's continued use of cartridges over CDs.
The title of the article should be "Why MS is bad for the gaming industry"... Instead of investing in its own infrastructure and internal studios/development, it buys existing IPs in order to "win" by taking away from others. Sunset Overdrive by Insomniac being an exclusive to XB1 is fine. Even Titanfall, to a lesser extent, is fine. New IPs. MS secured exclusive rights to those games. The Tomb Raider deal (even though it has come to light that it a timed exclusive) an...
So true.... Oculus/Facebook is already "watering down" Oculus with the Samsung mobile phone version of the technology. At the end of the day, Oculus is going to have lots and lots of competition in the market and there is no guarantee that it will be the best VR experience out there. Obviously with the backing of Facebook it will most likely be the most marketed, but ultimately Oculus will have to produce. They appear to be on track to do that, but so does Sony with the Morpheus....
The problem is that IGN said it took about 18 hours, but (as usual from IGN), this is a poorly written.... the focus of the article is on the Bungie mobile app telling them 6 hours. The author even notes that the app is likely wrong.
Yep... what they have positioned as a "10-year" game cycle.
IF that is true (and I don't know that it is), it could be an antitrust violation.
