I was gonna also mention that Super Mario Galaxy has yet to have a holiday season. Mario games traditionally do much better during the holidays.
I think people are more excited for the artbook and music CD then the game package.
And part of their lower profits has nothing to do with them, just the crappy currency conversion that's been going on across the world. Most of their sales nowadays come from the States and Europe, but when converted to yen, their profits take a hit.
I never like these rumors because they always speak louder than truth when Warren Specter himself has said he has no plans to port it. So if it is "soon" I wouldn't expect it until next fall at the earliest, are you really gonna wait a year in hopes that it's announced?
This is just a port of the original.. how would it be different.. well better I guess?
The problem with that is...
You can't declare a winner on which provides personal satisfaction until both of them are out. You can get a general idea, but until Kinect is something in your home, your opinion may change for the better or worse.
So this article is too pre-emptive.
If anyone read the article, he really just goes on about the lukewarm reviews for Sports Champions which in a way is the Move's biggest fall title. Reviews have been mixed for that. The device as a whole does well though.
So the crux of this article is you are blaming Nintendo because 3rd parties don't want to make games for them.
And when they continue to make great games in the same models as the one they made before with some enhancements that's not enough.
You want the best developer in the world as you claim to play follow the leader (which I guess is anyone but them) so they become like everyone else?
Eh the magazine never really seemed to care for the Mario Party franchise either.
@Cupcake for Gabe
I could be mistaken, but doesn't the Kinect bundle come with the 4 gig Xbox? So it has a HD.
And really only need one Live account, if you want to go extreme, the have the family bundle, which would still only bring the price to 400 bucks. Same as getting a Move Bundle.
I'd agree with you for a bit of it, but you've never heard people complain about more of the same for Guitar Hero/Rock Band? All we heard about last year was music genre fatigue!
And to be fair, I don't think sports games get knocked because people just assume they are yearly.
Ladies and gentlemen, release the Kraken!
Now if it could only get games I want to play on the blasted thing aside from Uncharted.
No love for House of the Dead: Overkill? My favorite rail-shooter.
That was the point. You have to build up a stable of first/second party franchises because at the end of the day, 3rd parties want profit. Who can blame em
I think Kinect has a ton of potential to appeal to the more party-focused gamer. I mean it has a ton of interesting software. And as Just Dance proved, dancing games are all the rage nowadays.
I'm not using this as a "what games I bought for 360 thingie" there are still plenty of games coming to the 360 and while most of them aren't exclusive. Many have the mentality that it might as well be. We can almost guarantee stuff like Assassin's Creed and Black Ops and Medal of Honor will sell much better on the 360.
Just looking at their long-term plan.
So what should Microsoft do to turn this around? Do they just start buying up studios and talent or do they restructure their current studios?
Yeah their strategy works in the interim, but as fall as turn over when they make the transition to the next-gen. They haven't prepared themselves well.
But this is Goldeneye, people seem to forget that the game isn't the original source. It takes the story of the movie and updates it, but it is still the same story. It hits all the major beats of the movie pretty well. Even throwing in nods to dialog with an updated twist like when he meets Xenia at Valentin's club and remarks about the counterfeit vodka label.
