Unfortunately, approvals aren't based on the quality of the content in the articles. Approval requirements are very barebones. They ensure we don't get spam from advertisers and we don't get too many duplicates, but they don't ensure that we get insightful, thoughtful and well written pieces, because that's more subjective and thus harder to monitor. #4.1
I did watch the gameplay video and I wasn't talking about the attacks, I was talking about the map navigation. You couldn't move that fast and that fluidly in Infamous, but you could in Prototype.
That's what I meant when I said I saw Infamous borrowing what was great about it and discarding what was bad. Infamous had plenty of legs to begin with, but now we don't have to put up with memes about chain link fences anymore. #2.1.2
@dalibor "Horrible". No. If you have no internet and you really were looking forward to playing the next-gen Halo games, that could be horrible.
If you have an internet connection and are looking forward to playing next gen iterations of your favourite franchises, how is that horrible?
Microsoft is not doing anything "horrible". Go look up the word horrible and you'll find that the Xbox One isn't in line with that words definition.... #1.2.3
I liked Infamous for it's art direction and the kind of story they tried to tell, the gameplay was cool, if a little slow.
Second Son looks great, but it definitely looks like it's picked up Prototypes relentless pace.
I like it and I get where the author of the article is coming from, but Second Son borrows what was fun about Prototype, not what was bad, in my opinion anyhow.

This is not out of line. The government has the right to request information that could go towards a criminal case. They've been doing that way before we had cameras on our cellphones and there's plenty of red tape that they're required to navigate before they're entitled to that information.

As long as the demand is there, it will be fed and the industry will thrive.
You have to be lacking a lot of insight if you think all it boils down to is better graphics and better utilised hardware. What like GTA San Andreas being the highest selling PS2 game of all time even though visuals and load times were better on the original Xbox and PC?

@Hellsvacancy I think the next step for multiplayer design is to compensate for that.
We've seen some of that this gen with Street Fighter and Halo where rage quitters are tracked and in future games, paired with other rage quitters.
The most recent example of this I've read about is League of Legends where the community moderates itself by reporting offenders and also praising good sportsmanship but adhering to strict rules so as not to 'spam'... #2.2.2
You know, no matter how great a game is, especially a game with a great online element to it, the community can bring it crashing down in an instant.
Honestly, this has caused me to reflexively use the mute feature in most online games before I even start playing which really is kind of redundant. I'm online to enjoy a game with like minded gamers but gamers are typically so disagreeable that I now go online to play with others at a distance.
This may turn out like Gran Turismo 4 where the series bowed out gracefully on PS2 and was rereleased as a classic in HD on PS3.
With Polyphony I'm just not sure. On one hand I feel certain they'll have been working with the PS4 for a long time now, to familiarize the studio with the technology but also to get a head start because GT games have such long development cycles and they'll want to release it at a decent point in the PS4's life.
Paying for exclusivity in certain circumstances is advantageous. Where the new generation of consoles is concerned, it can attract a larger install base than it may have otherwise.

When I was a kid watching an old video game show called Cybernet I once saw a tank game (Panzer something) and thereafter thought a Tank Combat game would be the coolest thing ever.
Now, it's not up my alley, but if that little kid ever wakes up and decides that's what he wants, this looks great for that.
I hope it succeeds because it's kind of niche and niche games that are as accessible to all players as opening up a web page could do so w... #2
@WrAiTh Sp3cTr3 I was being sarcastic, buddy. It's just amusing to see news related to Pitchford that isn't related to the Aliens: Colonial Marines debacle so soon after it all.
I'd think Randy Pitchford would be more excited about how much less likely Gearbox Software are to secure high profile licensed titles in the future. #1
It's not about tech specs, it's about how the product is sustained with the experience it delivers and how it's all marketed and sold. The PS 4 Eye can use telekinesis for all I care, but in the end they are making motion gaming more central to the Playstation brand and considering what a popular trend Kinect has become, to say they would not show some inspiration by it in their execution is to imply that they're not aiming for that market Microsoft a... #1.1.6
I think the golden opportunity missed here is that, if a female protagonist were included as one of the three leads, players wouldn't be obliged to experience GTA V from that perspective entirely. The game would let you play your chosen character at will and cycle between certain characters perspectives as compulsory for specific portions of the game.
