The first two thirds are slow paced, but it sure as hell isn't boring. I certainly found it more enjoyable than any of the GTA series. Then again, I felt that GTAIV was the best of the lot, since it also had a great story.
I'd prefer a good 10-12 hour game to a dragged out, boring 30+ hour game. Plenty of great single player games are even shorter than this.
That's just for the main missions too, according to this it's at least double the length if you do everything. It sounds like it has a big focus on multiplayer too... so it should have plenty of content.
It's just complaining for the sake of complaining to have a real issue with this.
Days Gone deserved the reviews it got.
People don't want to destroy Death Stranding, they're just concerned with what they've seen so far. Just about everyone, including journalists, were excited about Kojima joining Sony... they aren't just flipping their opinions around because they're biased.
It's ridiculous to assume MS is paying them to bash it... As Gangsta said, it didn't stop God of War. And it certainly hasn't hel...
Bored? By playing the highest rated game on Xbox One and PS4 (apart from GTAV), with better graphics and frame rate? I'd love to know your definition of fun.
*sees that you listed four PS4 exclusives including Days Gone*
Oooh you're one of those guys. That explains it.
The characters just don't feel right, the voice actor changes for Rhys and Claptrap stick out like a sore thumb.
Really? When I played PUBG, I could only think to myself that The Last of Us had already nailed those gameplay mechanics. It would have serious potential.
A GTAVI trailer would overshadow everything else, Naughty Dog included.
Microsoft published the first Mass Effect.
The 360 was out a year longer than the PS3, so the Bioshock team likely would have preferred to get the PC and 360 versions out first, before porting it to the more complicated PS3 hardware.
The Tomb Raider deal was bad. But at least when it went to PS4, it was discounted and came with all the DLC. I'm this case Xbox and PC users are paying the same price as PS4 users, but are getting less. With the next Cal...
Second Son was a travesty. At least Days Gone had huge zombie hordes going for it.
What's that? You want me to buy it second hand? Sure thing.
I was likely going to get it for PS4 anyway, but I won't support this.
Well Modern Warfare 3 had it, so it was pretty safe to assume this one would too.
So games you think got unfair scores are wrong, but ones you agree with are right? I happen to think Red Dead 2 deserved those scores, but collectively most people don't. So maybe scores aren't 100% reliable... and they certainly aren't scientific.
Gears 5 was called the best one by many reviewers, the lower scores are due to the higher standards of today's games. I agree that every entry got the scores they deserved (apart from 4), but the scores aren't...
@RizBiz - He said MS doesn't trust its developers to tackle serious issues, so he's implying it's Microsoft, not the developers.
@Sampsonon - I assume there's a pretty similar mix of intelligence levels among all console communities... so unless you have proof against that, I'm not sure what you're saying.
Metacritic isn't a great metric for the quality of a game. Red Dead Redemption 2 and Zelda Breath of the Wild are the two highest rated games of the generation, yet most people would take issue with that. A lot of PS4 fans swear on their lives that Horizon is far better than both.
Not saying they're wrong or right, just saying review scores aren't a scientific way to judge a game, unless we all agree GTAIV was the best PS3/X360 game.
You also...
Microsoft didn't write the story for Gears 5. It's not like Coalition came up with a super dark, brilliant story that MS refused because they think their fans are morons... That's ridiculous.
If we're going to go that route, Uncharted 4 ended up having a rather happy, fairy tale story. No consequences for any of the characters, and the only hero to die in four supposedly perilous adventures was Jeff the Camera Guy.
It was originally supposed to be d...
God of War has been the fastest selling PS4 exclusive hasn't it? Of course Gears 5 wouldn't match it.
GoW's one of the highest rated games of this generation, and had plenty of hype behind it. Gears 5 didn't rate as well, and it didn't have much hype until a few weeks before release. Plus the PS4 has double the install base.
This really is no surprise.
The dialogue and story are a massive step down in Borderlands 3. Which is a shame, since that was arguably the biggest improvement part 2 made.
After playing through it on the X, and even seeing the base PS4 version, I'm not sure what you're talking about. It runs at native 4K after all. Bland? How so? It looked incredible. Especially with the HDR
The ending made it hard for me to want to play any of these games again up until recently. It might sound dramatic, but it somewhat ruined gaming for me for a while.
With that said, the game was fantastic up until that point on my first playthrough. But after trying to play through the trilogy again over the last year, I don't think the third game was that great. The story was rushed, and removing the middle dialogue option was a bad move, for example.
