This may get trickier as development shifts from cross-gen to new-gen only.
I don't think the shift has even happened yet. GT7 and GoW were cross-platform and look amazing. I can only imagine what games wil look like when they're made for PS5 from the ground up.
Yes, and you have to imagine the inverse event -- if they went for "adoption and low cost" with a $200 headset, you'd have a lot of complaints about resolution, FPS, visual fidelity etc.
I think Sony has instead gone for people who are serious about videogames, and with high disposable income. That is a very select demographic but one that will probably ensure that Sony can stay at the cutting edge of the market.
I think I'm a good ex...
It's very big money. But I think if Sony pushes development with games into VR enough this could be a big breakthrough.
I bought it just for GT7. The idea of having the entire game in VR blows my mind.
Price alone will keep VR in the "super luxury" and "specialist" categories of gaming for a long time to come.
I do think there has been a disappointing uptake on VR, but the reason is :
1: The upfront cost. You're literally doubling the price of the console.
2. Lack of first party support. Getting spin offs etc makes it feel like second fiddle.
I've just preordered PSVR2 for Gran Turismo 7 alone. THAT is what I want, a full blown game in VR. I don't think I'd have bothered otherwise. Until developers start making BR games from the grou...
Shiver me timbers
This is relative to each person, and for me, if they have seriously gotten the ENTRIETY of Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR2, this will officially be the "year of VR" for me.
Well let's hold our breath, we don't know if it's the full game with multiplayer yet
I doubt they'd be cancelling the SC1 remake. It's such a safe product. They would only can new IPs
I keep thinking this but then I remember how perfunctory Ubisoft games are. They're not "bad", they're just so, so soulless.
I love extremely random/difficult trophies.
I will say it time and time again, the online trophies in GT Sport kept me coming back to that game for THREE years, and it was very sparse on content technically.
Banal trophies for completing missions are kinda lame though
I will always buy physical, I just like physical media.
One thought: if they did more steelbooks for games, maybe they'd sell a bit better? I love all mine, I want them on display!
I subscribed to FT and the Economist when I was studying (got a big discount as I was a student), I read them both cover-to-cover for three years. However, I started to believe what appeared to be good quality journalism was mostly sophistry, and I was kidding myself into believing it made me in ANY way smarter or better-informed.
The Sun, The Mirror etc...they are mostly written for entertainment purposes and give a flavour of what the common man responds to. It doesn'...
I think you're missing the point. I replayed it over Christmas and it has reaffirmed my view that it's MEANT to be slow etc, much of the gameplay genuinely trying to recreate living in the era rather than a constant dopamine hit -- which Rockstar could have done if they wanted to. A lot of the game feels like a moving piece of art than a traditional videogame, the idea is more to get lost in a world and affect the emotional side of your brain rather than entertaining you.
Come on, please let Gran Turismo 7 be full-blown VR integration. Playing that online with a rig would be insane.
Wait wait, is this full-blown GT7? With Multiplayer?
Holy shit. Amazing!
I'm seriously considering getting PSVR2 just for GT7. It better be the full game though, not some tantalising demo like GT Sport VR
Amazing stuff. The PlayStation is surely the one of the most successful electronic products ever. 25+ years of domination and innovation is incredible.
This is great news. It's time to let the PS5 soar!
To be honest, I feel like I'm getting cheesed off with a mobile spin-off experience when I get these "just for VR" spin offs from well-known franchises.
That's what makes GT7 and RE8 so cool. Hope to see more of this.
