"And if they both had been released at the same time, the PS3 would be ahead by about 7 million. "
When the PS3 launched in 2006, it cost $499-$599. Sony dropped the price to $399 around 8 months after launch, and according to sales data, the PS3 had sold less than 3 million at that point.
If PS3 had launched a year earlier, it would have certainly cost more than $499-$599.
Knowing that Sony sold less than 3 million PS3's at $4...
The TurboGrafx-16 (PC Engine in Japan) was a seriously underrated console. It was lost in the war between SNES & Genesis, but it had some amazing games - notably many awesome vertical shooters.
Even though pundits claimed it was really an 8-bit system, it was much more comparable to the 16-bit SNES & Genesis than to the 8-bit NES. As a matter of fact, there are several games that are available for both TG-16 and Genesis that are better on TG-16.
Yup. Just like I figured from you. Just pick a PS3 exclusive at random and call it "console defining" so you can try to win the numbers game. I could play the same game but I'm not nearly as ignorant as you. I understand what a "console defining" game is.
You must obviously think that nearly every exclusive is a defining experience. Of course, when it comes to the competition, you always have some excuse to ignore entire categories of games, the...
The 360 has four console defining franchises - Fable, Forza, Halo, & Gears of War.
The PS3 has four console defining franchises - Gran Turismo, Uncharted, God of War, & Killzone.
Sure, there are other exclusives like Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, Project Gotham Racing, & Ratchet & Clank, but, while those are good games, they are hardly "console defining". Like I've said many times before, Some people just don't WANT to believe the ...
MS showed Halo 4, Forza Horizon, and Gears of War 4. Sony showed Beyond, Last of Us, and God of War. That's three each. Don't even bring up Playstation All Stars Battle Royale as that is a multi-platform game. It was shown on stage being played on both PS3 and Vita.
MS strikes a perfect balance of first party exclusives, third party games, and some bonuses like exclusive DLC. Fans of other consoles just don't WANT to b...
How exactly does MS need to learn how to make games? At the recent E3, MS showed exactly as many upcoming 360 core exclusives as Sony showed for the PS3.
MS relies on it's exclusives. Third party timed DLC is just a bonus. You're just bitter because timed DLC is something MS does better than Sony - therefore, it's bad. If Sony had more timed DLC than MS, it would suddenly become the greatest thing in the N4G world.
"And where was the outrage when the 360 Arcade was replaced by the 360 4gb? "
There was little outrage because MS actually ADDED features to it's new slim revision.
-More memory was added - went from 0 to 4GB in the core, 120 to 250GB in the pro -Support for external USB memory was added -WIFI was added -touch sensitive power and eject buttons replaced the original "manual" buttons. Sony actually did the opposi...
Maybe you think gaming began in 1995, but those of us who live in the real world know that Sony was NOT there first - Atari, Sega & Nintendo were. Sony saw what they were doing and decided to join the party and make money off of the gaming industry.
Gaming existed before Sony was around, at it will exist after Sony is gone. Nobody lasts forever.
@Reverent - he gets disagrees because he's 100% wrong...
That's a pretty convenient position to take. That way, you can bring RROD into ANY MS hardware discussion, regardless of how irrelevant it is to the actual topic of discussion.
This article deals with chip performance. RROD had nothing to do with chip performance - it was caused by poor placement of the chips (and other components) inside the casing.
RROD is NOT relevant here. Just because someone mentioned it in the comment thread doesn't make it relevant.
Read the article. It specifically deals with performance issues from a chip that MS has considered using. The article says NOTHING about faulty heat sinks or poorly placed components inside the console which were the main cause of RROD.
Nuke's response was a perfectly valid response to an off-topic, borderline trolling comment.
This is not necessarily aimed at you because I don't know what you posted years ago, but Sony fans have VERY short memories.
When Kinect was introduced, there were numerous doom and gloom articles all over N4G. Despite the fact that Kinect could do some remarkable things, many people (especially here) decided to take one negative - lag - and focus on that nearly exclusively.
Kinect articles were full of Sony fans posting negative comments about Kinect, w...
The PS2 is NOT region free. I know because there are several Japan-only games that I've wanted to play, but it takes hacking or modding to make them work on an American PS2.
The article is pretty much right. The biggest problem this generation is fanboys who scream "MEDIA BIAS!!" whenever any criticism of their favorite console is written - regardless of how much truth is actually contained in the article.
Too many people believe that their favorite company is perfect, and instead of taking a hard look at the real issues, they just bury their heads in the sand and blame the media.
"except for 2011 when xbox beat it by like 4000 consoles"
You should check your facts again. 360 beat PS3 by 800,000 in 2011.
Also, Sony recently gave away free PS3's with the purchase of certain TV's, as well as with Vaio computers. So, when this year's numbers are posted, I'll look for you to minimize PS3's sales due to those giveaways too. Somehow, I don't think I'll ever see that, though. Fairness doesn't seem...
They also include PS3/PS2/PSP games like MLB: The Show in the PS3 exclusive section.
Not to mention, they include HD remakes as PS3 exclusives like God of War Origins collection. Bundling two PS2 or PSP games together on one PS3 disc doesn't suddenly make it a PS3 exclusive.
"I really hate the media. It's pathetic how they keep on chewing the same bone."
You make the entire media out to be a Sony hating machine. You don't say specifically which media outlets you despise - you make it quite clear that you despise "the media". You are assuming that they are all the same, and generalize them into a neat little package.
The media did not create the polarization. They have simply been made the scapegoats by rabid fans of a certain company who simply can't accept the fact that they're no longer #1. The fans need a simple excuse, so rather than taking a serious look at the real issues, they just bury their heads in the sand and scream "MEDIA BIAS!" every time their beloved console is criticized.
Unless of course, you actually believe that nearly EVERY publication and website...
You can talk all you want about how you think American's put up walls and try to block out anything that's non-American, but you're doing pretty much the same thing.
You (and MANY others here) have the idea that Sony is nearly perfect and incapable of error. So, when ANYBODY writes a piece that is critical of Sony in ANY way, you put on your blinders and pretend there is nothing wrong, and you simply shrug off the criticisms as "media bias". <...
