What was the first? O_o I did write an N4G review of TxK, if you wanna check it out: http://n4g.com/channel/txk_...
It's really, really good if you like arcade-style games. If you want a bunch of frills thrown in, then skip. I think it's amazing. Awesome soundtrack. Trippy visuals.
Yeah dude. Remember those hilarious rumors about Microsoft last year? Oh man, it was just so dumb! Microsoft was going to DRM-lock every single game. And...and get THIS! They were going to require their new Xbox to be always online! Cant you believe that people actually thought those rumors were true? Just crazy.
You realize that 90% of Elizabeth's behavior was scripted, right? Her AI was actually pretty annoying.
@ Flipgeneral Yeah the Looking Glass games had some exceptional AI (both SS and Thief were made by Looking Glass). Guards would call out to one another...but only the ones within earshot would respond. If they were suspicious, they would look high and low for you, entering different rooms, opening doors, etc. It made stealth feel a lot more satisfying.
The console market is shrinking. This isn't the time for special snowflake egotistical ideas or trojan horses for non-gaming aspirations. In this modern game market, either you're the best gaming console, or you're not and you fall behind. Based on the overwhelming success of both the 3DS and the PS4 (arguably, the best platforms in their markets) it would seem that people simply want to play a great game on a great console. The era of "PS3: It only does everything" is d...
I think AI these days sucks. Unlike better graphics (which simply require better hardware), better AI requires actual coding talent, and that's much harder to come by these days. Consider a game like System Shock 2 or Thief II where enemies did not have any patrol routes. Instead, enemies would actively search for you, look behind doors, climb ladders, etc trying to find you.
I wouldn't blame Microsoft. This is EA's game, after all, and it's struggling on all platforms. I mean, just take a brief look at EA's recent history: Battlefield 4 and SimCity launched swimmingly, didn't they? /s I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if the servers struggle for the first 2 weeks. Sadly, it'll reflect badly on Microsoft instead of on EA, but that's what you get when you rely on 3rd party titles to push your ...
Call of Duty's direct competitor is BF. I think Destiny will carve up what remains of the Halo fanbase (many of which already left to play CoD) Titanfall isn't similar enough to directly compete with any shooter that I can think of. It will succeed or fail as a separate entity, but it won't steal fans away from other franchises.
Exactly. People are pinning their hopes on Titanfall as if it will make the consoles fly off the shelves, but what happens when it doesn't? Heaven forbid, what happens if/when PS4 outsells X1 in NA in march, despite Titanfall? What will be the excuse then?
Based NISA. Looks really great. That red dinosaur totally looks like a pokemon (Pokemon Ruby?)
Vita is shaping up to be a JRPG powerhouse (just like the PSP was last gen). Not gonna complain about that.
I always get absorbed with the inevitable Casino levels in RPGs. Funny thing is, I'm not really interested in playing cards or going to a casino. But being able to fake-gamble (and win rare items) is always a fun way to pass the time. Gotta get that Porygon at the Game Corner!!!
Why would it matter if Xbox One is only available in 13 markets? This is NPD. X1 is available in all NPD markets. And X1 is getting outsold.
LOL at all the people who insisted Microsoft would still dominate at NPD. And yet, Sony is dominating WHILE being sold out everywhere. Just wait until more consoles are available in NA, and then the gap will grow even more.
They absolutely won't drop the Xbox division. HOWEVER (and we're already seeing the evidence of this everywhere) they will turn Xbox into their catch-all media brand and shift focus away from gaming. They're already pushing stuff like "Xbox Music" and "Xbox Video" and whatnot. Xbox will be used as their media brand where gaming just happens to be a part of it, but it will no longer be the focus.
Nintendo will be fine, considering they still have the highest-selling 8th gen platform (the 3DS) and it is selling rather well (though not as well as DS, admittedly). Microsoft has plenty of money from other divisions (obviously) and so while they CAN keep the Xbox afloat, the question is WILL they?
Best of luck to him. The former leads of the Xbox brand (y'know, the ones who made it a success and who pushed it forward in the gaming space) all seem to be leaving the company. inb4 "You fool X1 has the best launch Lineup MEtaCritic they are focusing on gaming!" Um...yeah, I'm talking about long term here. You can't determine long-term commitment by looking at the launch window. Perhaps these XBox bosses see what's coming down the ...
*frothing at the mouth Yes please, SEGA, but you better effin' confirm a Western release (SEGA has been terrible at localizing their games in the last few years). Even better if they announce SEGA/Nintendo collaboration for the next Shining game...with Camelot at the helm! *frothing intensifies
Hmm, I think that's a fair point, though I wouldn't go as far to say that "there [wasn't] any other option of a gaming system on the market at that time". You've stated above that you believe the Wii was a fluke. I disagree, but I think we both could give a lot of facts to back up our opinion on that, so no reason to get into that discussion. Instead, let me ask you this: do you think the Wii was an *unrepeatable* fluke? I mean, in m...
