Not sure if it's a useful reference point or not, but the DLC episodes in FFXV were $5 each (at least from what I found Googling around a bit).

Reason: Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations

Basically, it's a law that says you can't entice consumers with freebies that are worth more than the value of the product you're selling (i.e. pretending to sell a product when actually luring customers in with freebies). Which is to say that all additional items must have a price set to them that scales in accordance with their monetary value (with the lowest value being 100 yen) to prev...

The difference between 1080p and 1440p is around 77%. You'd have to be blind not to notice it.

If I understand this correct it's saying that 1440p isn't a supported output resolution, not a supported rendering resolution. i.e. irrespective of what resolution the game is rendering at you'll get a 1080p image.

If you are using a 1440p monitor with a PS5 you'll end up getting a 1080p image, instead of the resolution the game is rendering at (which could theoretically be anything between 1080~8k). It's 77% of pixels that are effectively not being properly taken advantage of.

I don't expect devs to make profiles specifically for 1440p resolution for their games, but I do expect a system level feature to downsample to my native screen resolution.

It's a mass market AAA game... most people who bought it (or any AAA game) likely read none of the reviews or even heard about the leaks. And since it's single-player online word of mouth matters even less.

Established first party IP with millions in marketing around the game -- obviously it's going to sell well. That doesn't spite the haters or whatever narrative this article is trying to spin, it just reaffirms what we already knew: that mass market consum...

Pretty sure there is one trans character. I won't say which one since I can't use spoiler tags here.

The disc-model looks better/more symmetrical/balanced when horizontal, but the discless model looks better/more symmetrical when standing.

Honestly, I feel kind of bad brining this up in this context, but it's only in this context I can bring this up:

I think this decisively puts an end to the narrative that gamers are against accessibility. As if the complete lack of negative blowback against other accessibility stories (such as Microsoft's controller) didn't already do so.

To this day it makes me feel a little ill that perfectly-abled grown adults co-opted the difficulty of gam...

To add to that. The summary has to be reductive to work, too. 'A Very Angry Bearded Guy' doesn't work at all if that is quite literally what is being described. There has to be some dissonance between the content and the observation, but the observation also has to have some truth to it.

The joke is that it's a oversimplification of what the game is, whilst also being true. But here's the clever part: it's funny because it's not self-evidently true. It's not what you immediately think of -- but also happens to be true giving the summary a sort of "nailed it" zinger quality to it. Too on the nose and it doesn't work.

This is also why "A Very Angry Straight White Guy" isn't funny. It's doesn't have the...

It's a reduction of the game content, summarised so shortly as to be absurd. It's like calling out Star Wars for being the story of a young boy whose radicalised by a religious old man into committing genocide. None of the contents of that sentence are laughing matter, but the juxtaposition of the source material and the way the summary is kind of true when you think about it make it funny.

Groaning. more like. After all, it's not funny if you are just stating the obvious for passive-aggressive effect. Instead of coming across as clever, it comes across as trying to say something edgy, but not willing to actually say it.

The reason this is funny is because it takes a moment before you realise "Oh damn, that's true!", and it's not actually targeting or calling out any group or make a snarky hidden statement, either (last I checked "aggres...

That was IGN. And TBH it wasn't as daft a criticism as it seems, it was just summarised really poorly so it came across as picky.

Death Stranding just had a system requirements reveal (not sure if I am allowed to link to it, so Google it). One of the recommended presets as for 1080/60fps:

Recommended 60fps

RAM: 8GB
GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 590

Censoring does take away from the experience by definition. It's a subtractive act.

I'm not entirely sure how they would remake RE4 in a way that captures what makes RE4 work: at heart it's an action game (with a lot of DNA in common with DMC, which was another action game that was originally an RE game) more so than a shooter (i.e. the focus is on close quarters combat/crowd management rather than tracking sight lines and doing offset calculations to account for weapon fire rate/accuracy)... and if Capcom remake it I have a feeling it would be in the vein of a stand...

@Harryvok This viewpoint sounds like you've either eked nothing out of playing a game on a higher difficulty, haven't actually beaten a game on a higher difficulty, or you have... and you had an unhealthy reaction.

In any case, you seem to lack the first hand experience to appreciate what it feels like and why it's rewarding, making you stoop to quite frankly silly conspiracy theories. I can't explain to you or any other critic the satisfaction of beating a ...

You know, this is where I wonder how the season pass factors into it. We know that many publishers make far more off of season passes/MTX's than they do base game sales, and given that Deep Silver pushed for a season pass/DLC maybe that's where they expect to see the return?

Little things like the sound design not being quite up to par become evident on higher difficulty levels. Like, in Sekiro I can have the camera jammed halfway up a boss's arse and still parry correctly because their general silhouette and sound cues let me know the parry timing.

In Fallen Order you can get hit by things off screen (that aren't projectiles) that you had no idea were happening.
