Ironic Choice of Music in Kinect ad

You might recognize the riff.
Vid-1
(sorry the original was taken down)

Its the song used in this Kinect ad
Vid-2

lets look at the lyrics shall we?

The tune is called "Natural's not in it" by "Gang of Four"

The problem of leisure
What to do for pleasure
Ideal love a new purchase
A market of the senses
Dream of the perfect life
Economic circumstances
The body is good business
Sell out, maintain the interest
Remember Lot's wife
Renounce all sin and vice
Dream of the perfect life
This heaven gives me migraine
The problem of leisure
What to do for pleasure

-------------note-hmmm does this even need any real analysis?

Coercion of the senses
We are not so gullible
Our great expectations
A future for the good
Fornication makes you happy
No escape from society
Natural is not in it
Your relations are of power
We all have good intentions
But all with strings attached

Repackaged sex keeps your interest
Repackaged sex keeps your interest
Repackaged sex keeps your interest
Repackaged sex keeps your interest
Repackaged sex keeps your interest
Repackaged sex keeps your interest

-------------note-Can't argue with that!

The problem of leisure
What to do for pleasure
Ideal love a new purchase
A market of the senses
Dream of the perfect life
Economic circumstances
The body is good business
Sell out maintain the interest
Remember Lot's wife
Renounce all sin and vice
Dream of the perfect life
This heaven gives me migraine
This heaven gives me migraine
This heaven gives me migraine

The song sounds to be both about the evil man corporations leechin off their Punk ethos and about drug abuse, speed and alcohol probably at the top of the list

EITHER OF WHICH made for an extremely awkward realization when watching this ad...

"wait isn't that gang of four...

with the song about...

man what the..."

Well spotted, kinda puts a question mark over Kinect's family friendly veneer doesn't it?

Sony officially confirm intent of Kadokawa takeover

"It's true that we have made an initial statement of intent. We would appreciate it if we could refrain from further comment."

What's interesting about this, although there ain't no 100% certainty the deal will get finalized, but:

If Sony had already made up their mind to step out of negotiations, there wouldn't be much reasons now to confirm an intent after 3 weeks this news had appeared for the first time.

I personally think:

The deal is about to be finalized. The takeover of Kadokawa will be announced before December, 31st 2024.

gold_drake4h ago

i also think that this is pretty much a done deal.

they either take over the whole company, or parts of it, but we well see whats to come fairly soon id imagine.

i think some time after the game awards when they do their own state of play. if one is to come.

dveio4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

I agree.

Stepping out would mean another one could or will take over Kadokawa's intellectual properties.

It's at least highly likely Sony don't want this opportunity to slip from their fingers.

ocelot072h ago

I agree with the last part. I was reading on eurogamer that apparently Kadokawa employees are really hoping for a Sony take over earlier today.

-Foxtrot4h ago

Well going off rumours it's either Sony, Tencent or Kakao

I hate these kind of things but it seems this is all about anime for Sony with FromSoftware just being a bonus.

Since someone is going to get them as Kadokawa have been apparently fending off takeovers from Kakao for a while and after hearing about Kakao along with knowing what Tencent are like, Sony is probably the better option. It was said a while back that apparently Kadokawa approached Sony first just so Kakao didn't get them.

Now it´s official and Sony is finally showing their true face!

I say do it, Sony!

Do it like you did with Psygnosis!

I can´t wait to see the lame excuses from once outrage people who acted like anti-monopoly crusaders and defenders of the consumers, workers and the industry.

dveio3h ago

So if someone approached you and offered you to buy their property, whatever it might be, what's the face exactly you showed them (or others) if you'd do it?

gold_drake2h ago

god, stop trolling.

uve made your point last time.

-Foxtrot2h ago

He made his point and his 100 other alt accounts that keep getting banned did aswell…

-Foxtrot2h ago

Good grief get over it

You were in Microsoft’s corner cheering them on with Zenimax and Activision along with all the other purchases and didn’t say s***

Is Sony (or others) now not allowed? Microsoft can do it but if anyone else does it DESPITE THE FACT Microsoft being the one who opened these flood gates to begin with, it’s now an evil scummy thing.

The fact you have to bring up Psygnosis is so desperate, it was a completely different time and the industry was so different then. The comparison scale is completely different.

There’s no excuse, they are going to be bought either way and the other two buyers are f****** awful. These guys approached Sony to prevent a hostile takeover, what do you want them to do?

If this was Microsoft you’d be defending the hell of them and don’t bulls*** about it.

Obscure_Observer1h ago

"You were in Microsoft’s corner cheering them on with Zenimax and Activision along with all the other purchases and didn’t say s***"

You´re delusional, I said MANY times that Sony should acquire either SE and/or From Software given their past relationship with those companies. Go ahead, look at my comment history and prove me wrong!

"Is Sony (or others) now not allowed? Microsoft can do it but if anyone else does it DESPITE THE FACT Microsoft being the one who opened these flood gates to begin with, it’s now an evil scummy thing."

Quit your fabricated lying bs!

Sony start it all when they bough Psygnosis and took their games from SEGA, Nintendo e PC players! If you weren´t a gamer by that time, fine. But don´t come here pretending that MS started this thing when Sony was the FIRST to buy an entire multiplatform gaming publisher back in the day!

"The fact you have to bring up Psygnosis is so desperate, it was a completely different time and the industry was so different then. The comparison scale is completely different."

Spare me from your hypocrisy, dude. Now it´s about "scale" completely different when Sony bought a multi platform publisher that used to make games for *every single platform* back in the day to make their own and make everything exclusive to Playstation, just to shut it all down in the end! Congratulations, I guess?

Deny all you want, Sony started this sh!t! Your dumb denialism/revisionism and damage control will not rewrite history!

"These guys approached Sony to prevent a hostile takeover, what do you want them to do?"

Lies. Where´s From Software said that? From what I recall they officially said that they *received* a letter of intent from Sony to acquire the company. It is your new attempt at damage control now? At least bring your official sources to back up your lame claims!

Metaphor: ReFantazio Is GameSpot's Game Of The Year 2024

Gamespot: "Though Metaphor: ReFantazio is the former Persona team's first foray into high fantasy, it might also be the most grounded and deeply human game they've ever created. By weaving magical elements with universal topics--such as prejudice, poverty, grief, cycles of violence, anxiety, and the role religion and politics can play in both oppressing and empowering the people--Metaphor is able to examine humanity with some distance and through a unique lens. It poses countless questions to its players, all while admitting the answers might not be simple or absolute. And yet, it places special emphasis on one question in particular: Does fiction have the power to shape our world?"

Well deserved, i am 40 hours in and it's a masterpiece. Atlus really outdid themselves

Levii_921h ago

I’m 10 hours in and wondering when does it finally get interesting and good.

Elda1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

LOL! I'm about 10 hrs in as well & I must say it's no Persona by no means though it has some similar mechanics, so far for me Metaphor is just an average JRPG. So far I haven't seen or played anything mind blowing. My rating so far would be a 7.5 out of 10. Maybe later in the game it'll get grander.

Armaggedon50m ago

Truth is, there is no objectively good game. Its what game hooks you in and why. I brought persona 5 and stopped two hours in.

andy851h ago

It wouldn't bug me if it won the main one as I enjoyed it but it wasn't on the level of Rebirth or Astro Bot. It felt like a step down from Persona 5 but as long as a DLC doesn't win it.

jznrpg1h ago

I’m in the middle of it and it’s definitely worthy. The hard part of GoTY is there are at least several games that are worthy each year and sometimes more.

DarXyde1h ago

I feel like I always mention how much GS tends to align with my perspective, especially on reviews.

This is no different. Metaphor is outstanding.

Elda1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

I disagree. As far as rpg's of the year for me it's a tie between Black Myth Wukong & FFVII: Rebirth. My GOTY is Stellar Blade.

Armaggedon49m ago

Flame war alert: Nice. For me, its between veilguard and dragons dogma 2.

Flewid63839m ago

I just beat Black Myth last night and I don't recall any moment when it became an RPG.
