Giveaway: The Castle Doctrine - and Enter to Win a PS4!

From Cat, With Love

Today you can win one of 9 codes for Jason Rohrer’s The Castle Doctrine!

A massively-multiplayer game of burglary and home defense, The Castle Doctrine is Rohrer’s tenth game and may or may not have something to do with the real life experience of protecting his family from dogs. Though the game is played online with the full population of active players, interaction is asynchronous, and players never see each other directly. Each player has a house and starts with a limited budget to build security systems for their house. The goal of construction is to keep other players out through tricks, traps, and puzzles. Players can also purchase burglary tools and attempt to break through the security of other players' houses to steal money and thus further build their own defenses. Death, at any point in the game, is permanent and forces the player to restart from scratch with an empty house and limited budget.

To win a code, comment on any and all of the stories we have running today from our IndieMonth account on Jason Rohrer and The Castle Doctrine - your comment should mention either or both Rohrer/The Castle Doctrine:

Today’s Stories:

- codes and copies for ALL released games we cover during the month of July
- $100 Steam or Amazon gift card (winner’s choice!)
- A PlayStation 4 console

Some fine print (plus all the usual TOU, and so on and so on):

I'm not so interested in winning The Castle Doctrine, but do comments need to mention them for the PS4 bundle as well?
dota2champion  +   253d ago
Invading other homes and robbing them sounds fun, game looks too pixlating to me, but I wouldn't mind trying this game out.

So many indie games. @_@; N4G, you're running my wishlist ragged!

The castle doctrine looks like an interesting game, another great example of an interesting social experiment, will you steal and kill another player to further your own security system?
Virtua_Awesome  +   253d ago
That's quite a unique game concept, never seen anything like it before. I've found out about so many new games thanks to indie month. Thanks, N4G!

Looks like The Castle Doctrine picks up in online multiplayer where Deception IV: Blood Ties unfortunately left off. Tis a good thing!

The monotone voice was hilarious and I'm still unsure of whether it was intended. Until he mentioned chiauahas.

The two words he mentioned of freedom and power (although some people like randomness in games, would be a nice optional feature that is toggleable or in certain servers where all hell could break loose even with the most methodical plan) are important for a game like this.

Basically sounds like it could make for great player experiences and stories ala xcom.

The first thing I thought of watching the trailer was the Deception games.

My head hurts after watching this trailer. (-_-) Wait!

I realized my volume was off... DON'T WATCH THIS TRADE WITHOUT VOLUME!! (You wont understand a single bit of it, and will be left with a severe migraine.)

LOL, "with indicator lights AND chihuahuas!"
I love the narrator's indifferent tone for humor, is he the game creator?
It'd drive me insane to find the right combination to keep my neighbors at bay. Pretty crazy neighborhood if you ask me!
