Every day I see at least two articles lamenting fanboys and exclusive games. Why can't we all just get along they cry. Why can't we all just be equal.
Nothing is equal, nothing is fair like that. The whole idea behind any business model is to out class your competition with better service or product. So obviously this is true in the whole microsoft vs sony debate that continues to rage on.
Personally I'm not bothered by the debate itself. I enjoy reading posts from biased fanboys and girls. I personally own just one console and a pc because that's all I need to suite my needs. I'm aware of the exclusives on other machines and sometimes think longingly of mass effect or super mario galaxy. That doesn't mean I want the console that their on though, not just for a couple of games. I already have more games than I can play. It also doesn't mean that exclusive titles should be abolished. A world where all games where multi platform would be a bland and unexciting place. That sense of competition between the companies would be gone. There would be less need for publishers and developers to one up each other. Sure they would have greater sales releasing on all platforms but they wouldn't have to work the same way they do now to make a perfect exclusive game to maximise sales on the one console. Saying you want every game to release for every console is like saying all car makers should produce the same cars. What would be the point in that. Why have multiple consoles? I guess these are the same people that do just want one console, but you people don't understand how the world works. Competition drives creativity. Competition between companies does nothing but serve the customers. If there was just one console they could just do whatever they want. They could feed us bland boring crap and dull features and we wouldn't know any better. There wouldn't be a fence we could look over to see if the neighbour had greener grass. They could release the console at a high price and never have price cut, they could charge way to much for peripherals and accessories, they could charge too much for online service and movies. They could do all of this and more and we would just have to eat it because we love to play games and there would only be one option. So you know what suck it up you commies. Competition is a good thing. Kudo's to every brand loyalist fan consumer, your helping every single person that loves to game. Especially the people you consider the opposition.
Ben Sledge from TheGamer Writes "I’m already impressed with Supergiant’s commitment to improving body diversity in the Hades 2 technical test."
Hardcore Gamer Writes "Buckshot Roulette is gaming's latest surprise hit, and for quite the good reason, with its twisted and unique gameplay, and tension-filled atmosphere."
Despite all the hype, marketing, development time and resources behind them, these blockbuster titles would disappoint fans.
The Order 1886 wasn't disappointing.
It was great.
Maybe do an article about Games Journalists Lied About. That would be a good read.
Sure, the campaign was terrible, but MW3 isn't even the top three most disappointing COD games...
I see your point. But sometimes fanboys go too far with their outlandish claims especially when doing comparisons. To the point that the opposition, the people you're trying to convince, simply don't listen anymore.
I just totally ignored most of the zealotry about Uncharted 2 for example. They were just way over the top and obnoxious. Turns out, Uncharted 2 may be one of, or the best, console games ever. By the time I finish it, I may put it over my current best console game ever, Gears of War I.
I guess it depends on whether or not you just want to read yourself shout, or be listened to and convince.
Also, fanboys tendency to dismiss features missing for inferior aspects of their platform as being unnecessary (until they get it or until it is improved on their platform of course) kills their credibility.
are more often ignorant and embarrassing to the gaming community than not. 3rd party exclusivity (even 1st party to some extent) based on anything but sales numbers crunching seems to cause more division, and console favoritism, which in turn creates more ignorant and embarrassing fanboys. There is some good attached, but for the most part, I don't agree, and am glad for the articles that call out fanboys. There is rarely any real debate going on. Mostly just insecure people trying to justify their purchase decision by slamming the opposition every chance they get, and overrating their own side. That's my opinion anyway.
Fanboys are the scourge of the gaming community and exclusives are only made to benefit a single console. It's hardcore fanboys who discourage competition and encourage others to buy only one console and get a hard-on seeing the other side fall.
Fanboys and exclusives are good for the gaming community. If you don't think so your a communist.
Exactly...without them, gaming wold would be so bored, I'dn't give sht to fallow it, just like I used in the nintendo/n64/ps1 Era.
competition is great. it does drive creativity, yet, capitalism thwarts creativity by constantly demanding the same games over and over again. A slight upgrade is all you are getting for the same price of the game before. Whether the new game sucks or not, fanboys will buy them because they are fanboys. This drives the sales for a new crappy, unoriginal, very uncreative sequel. How about some originality? These cash cows (halo, killzone, gow, etc.) are driving down sales for new, original games. If these companies really cared about fans of a game they would simply release a free or cheap upgrade, but no they sell these suckers 60-70 bucks a pop. Not to say that none of the employees are creative... but do you think they are the ones making the big decisions? no, its the ones controlling the mighty dollar. A great example of this is infinity ward: They made activision tons of money with cod but when it came to their compensation, they were duped.
