Best of the generation

Each Generation has a game that defines that generation, and after a discussion, I decided to ask gamers what was the best game for each generation of consoles.

PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Dreacast generation?
PS1, N64, Sega Saturn generation?
SNES, Sega Genesis generation?
PC 2000 - 2009
PC 1990 - 1999
PC 1980 - 1989
Before that (I'm not ancient)?

No PS3, 360, Wii since the generation isn't over yet, and it'll keep fanboys out of here. Otherwise have at it in the comments.

The story is too old to be commented.

PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Dreacast generation? God of War 2. There were a bunch of good games Super Smash Bros. Melee, Halo Combat Evolved, Star Wars KOTOR, Jade Empire, Beyond Good and Evil, GTA 3 and San Andreas, but God of War 2 just stood atop them all. God of War 2 was looked over by me, because I had just got my PS3, and was on to the next gen, but I took the time out to sit down and play it, and I was amazed by the entire game. It came out once the next gen started, but it was the best game for those consoles to me.

PS1, N64, Sega Saturn generation? The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. This was hard you have trendsetting games like Mario 64, Goldeneye, the original Perfect Dark, Final Fantasy 7 & 8, and more, but Zelda easily stood out from the pack. The only competition came from Mario 64 to me. The rest of the games were fun and really good, but those 2 defined that generation.

SNES, Sega Genesis generation? I don't know. Looking back this was probably the best generation of games ever. The current gen is catching up, but I never realized how many games I had and how many of them I truly enjoyed. I had to sit down and make a list of all the games I played back then. Zombies ate my neighbors, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Mario Kart, Mega Man, Golden Axe, F-Zero, Shinobi, Super Mario World, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic and Tails, Streets of Rage, Earthworm Jim, Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country, A link to the Past, Super Metroid back then, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. But when it comes down to it the best games to me were Shinobi, A Link to the Past, and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

NES? Super Mario Bros. 3. This is what got me into gaming, and while it was another great year for Nintendo with tons and tons of games, this one did it for me.

I'm just now getting into PC so that's all for me.
