Read between the lines
Wii Fit sold remarkably well - there is no arguing this. However, the results of the survey on this article suggests that any future software made for the Balance Board is likely to struggle. That's about all anyone can realistically glean from this article.

One thing I'd hasten to add as well - the Japanese aren't going through a health kick like certain parts of the Western world. Many Japanese believe that weight loss is achieved simply by not eating :P View

Just get race driver grid right first
stuff F1, they need to fix grid first. handling is lame and there are no freakin DTMs or V8s: stuff the drifting, if I wanted to do that I would buy need for freakin speed. View

I also think that there are more consoles around, some consoles are older and GTA IV is much longer than Halo... it'll take days to finish, not hours.

I think there will be heaps more RRoD this time around. I'll cry like a baby if my console dies before I finish the game. View

Don't take it personally
I think many of you have missed the point of this article and are turning it into your personal story with the Xbox you already own.

It is actually about Microsoft needing to do more than just work on the machines innards: they need to give the Xbox 360 a total image revamp. The current console's appearance will be forever tagged with RRoD.

It then goes on to suggest what features should be thrown in at the same time to give the console legs into the future.

I think the conversation in here has been great and I am not having a go, I just thought this was worth spelling out before things got further side-tracked.

Now for my thoughts. I think they need to do what this article states. I think they rushed the Xbox 360 out to beat Sony. And I think if they don't release a new type of X360, they will rush out the Xbox 720 (or whatever it is called) to keep up with the pace, therefore risking another generaion of tech issues. View

Two Big Points
Having read though all of that there are two points I would like to add.

1.) As awesome as MGS4 is, it is a gamer's game and is kind of irrelevant to this conversation about why GTA 4 will ship consoles - the csasual market, GT5, however, is a much more recognised casual brand.

2.) As soon as the PS3 passed the X360 in sales, it will become the lead format with developers. At that moment many multi-format games coming to X360 will be dumbed down ports. If games are being designed with the Cell Processor, Blu-ray and an HD as standard in mind they will need to be altered considerably to work on the X360's inferior tech. Before you all jump, I love my X360... not the machine, it is a cheap peice of $hit, but the games and online are awesome.

Anyway, that is the bottom line drive of MS's panic. If the PS3 catches up, it will dominate so MS has to keep ahead as long as possible by any means necessary. View

There may be a deal between MS and certain Stores, but it is an MS iniative.

The press release for this deal came out of Microsoft and is being pushed by their PR.

As for the swearing, grow up. Not only did the use of the word make me laugh, it packed a mightly wallop to the end point of the article and actually assumed I was a mature adult gamer... for once. View

Don't be mistaken
The article is not about which will sell more copies. Becuase of the install base that will be the X360 version for sure (at least in the short term). The article is about how many consoles will be sold on the back of the games release.

I see a lot of comments on here from people who own a 360 and will buy the game on that format. Good on ya. How many people who don't have a console will by a 360 to play GTA IV though - that was the questions raised.

The answer given is relatively few. 2 copies of GTA might sell on X360 for ever 1 PS3 copy. But 3 or 4 PS3 consoles could be sold for every 1 360... and that is were MS are F**ked. View

I felt compelled to point out this quote from the article

It amazes me how blind some people choose to be. The article is commentry on events. You guys called it PlayStation bias, yet it clearly states that the X360 is looking like the superior buy. WTF? View
