I'm not even going to read this article (as I have done as well with all the other "The Wii is done" type articles). Instead, I'm just going to comment on this new trend to speculate that the Wii's success is "done", "over with", or was just a "fad".
This, imo, isn't what gaming is about. I see these articles, particularly on this site, it seems like 3 times daily. I'm not sure why one would insist on "picking on" the most successful gaming hardware this gen (so far). OBVIOUSLY, the Wii isn't going anywhere anytime soon. OBVIOUSLY, there is quite a large niche for casual gamers (hell, my mother wants one), as the Wii's monthly sales are proving, for almost 2 years now. I don't own a Wii n' don't plan on ever purchasing one, not for myself anyway. But I've seen a few titles I'd be interested in playing that are only available on the Wii. The Wii is a viable next gen console, just as much as the PS3 and 360 are. Simply because the company chose to pursue a non traditional route and doesn't bolster such ferocious features as those of the PS3 n' 360 doesn't mean it "isn't next gen".
Obviously, if your purchasing this console, you know what your getting (or not rather - hardcore games), or don't (new comers). Whereas those of us who've been gaming for some time already, know what we want n' we'll only find that on the other 2 consoles.
The Wii's success doesn't tell me this is the new fad, however, it implies, to me, that gaming in general is growing, quickly. It tells me there are millions of people who've been wanting to get into it for some time. And if the Wii is the console to allow them to finally do so, then that's great.
