The playstation one had better textures sure lol. It did not even have a z buffer so they texture matrix would alway colapse leaving a wrinkled te texture yet you was probably 12 so you didn't care or if you are older maybe you are looking back on things with rose color glasses.

I've played ut2 way better than the first one but best game out or coming? Hey if you like it you like it I just did not want to play it again. I understand you are wowed by the graphic but I'm not. They are still low spec any pc gamer can tell you that. Then on top of that the games just are not fun well not the type of fun we had during the past. Level design and game play are king even on the high powered pc games, because of that no one play crysis for fun any more. The visuals has left game play behind in most of these games.

Basicly there are reasons why Sony does not get halo numbers from their exclusives because they are only making Sony die hard fans happy. it's very clear to see ms does not understand gaming. They had no hit ges before halo which they basicly paid for so it would not go on a mac. Then they decided to use the same game against Sony. Well it all worked. They told gamers they where dragging us into better pastures yet they have only brought you pc gaming mixed with the surviving remains of console developers.

This has been a weird gen because every one learned from Sony and used a piece of Sony against them. Ms used the tech hype against them. I'm pretty sure ms knows what the ps3 can and can't do simply because most of it's games use c++. They knew about most of the gpucpu projects long before Sony and nintendo. Sure ps3 games or exclusives look better because face it ms hasno real developers.

I know if Sony chooses to fight next gen with tech again or hype they may loose again. No one knows the pc gamer better than ms and they are coverting you all into pc gamers. Yet the current hd consoles are in a weird limbo where they are lacking console like games.

Many of you may not understand this because you started gaming on the ps brand or simply for got what arcade game play was like and why it was addictive. Notice you guys are not addicted to these games you trade in hd games left and right and once new hype comes along no one talks about the old games. It's like you guys are throw away gamers and their no real contection to the past hardcore games.

Once pc gaming totally ignored it's past people stop having fun also. Sony has many games just from the ps1 days that are way more interesting than the moive games they are trying to make.

So far Sony is about leveraging movies and a game play experience that leverages that idea, yet with out 3rd parties making better games for it they are dead in the water. Ms attacked the idea of the closed system and leveraged the fact that console gamers are not cash rich. Sells would be ashadow of what they where and pc gamers showing up on consoles would clearly give them an advantage. Onto of this no one has made development easier. Ms used the Sony propritary stuff against them. The pipe line for hd game production was established and it was so expensive that experiments could cost you your whole dev house which has happened.

Before Sony had a different audience that frankly did not care that the xbox 1 had better gfx along with the gc. For a long time people claimed it was even more powerful till the resevil port from gc.

Nintendo got their pop and casual gamers back from Sony and gave us the very games from the past that Sony pretty much blocked from their platform. Sony kill traditional gaming a long time ago when they devalued 2d gaming and even force them to sell games for less. This is coming back to haunt them now that they have a bunch of gamers that can not appreciate all of gaming. After god of war and a few other games what killer app does Sony have from the past?

Any new ip you make will have a hard time making it out there simply because sony's own studio are not as strong as the 3rd party sales wise.

Sony has had eye toy for a while yet they have failed to make it fun. It is almost set up to try and kill or down play motion controls which would only work if they where market leaders. It's apprent nintendo is going to keep making the controls better and ms will continue to do what they know best pc gaming with lots of fees. I love how the new slim looks and the uncharted art team is awesome yet the game design needs work. Another thing is Sony fans sound a lot like nintendo fans during the n64. Umm a million res evil fans could not even buy this game. The res evil remake sold way more than this. Why wouldn't these hardcore gamers at least buy this game? The hd consoles failed to beat the wii because they simple where not aiming at all. They simply do not understand the very market they are in. Pc gaming is dead but for some reason most people I know rather game on a pc for hd gaming and the wii for console gaming.

I don't know as a hardcore gamer I'm pretty happy with my wii. I feel it is pretty much the only console on the market right now. The other systems are in a hellish middle ground that was established by ms. Just by raising the graphical bar too high ms automaticly turn these hd consoles into closed system pc stand ins. This took much of the ps3 developers away simply because hardly any company was ready produce pc spec visuals. Last gen hardcore gamers where totally fine with inferior hardware and the xbox was ignored simply becuase gamers could not afford 720p tvs.

Now suddently gamers can afford this stuff and they are too good for console graphic even though most gamers can not afford new hdtvs. Every developer knows 90-96% of their games will be played in sd.

Clearly the pc crowd has invaded console gaming or either this is what happens when grown up don't upgrade to pc gaming. If you remember the pc crowd said the same thongs about nes, genesis, turbo grapx, snes. Console gaming has always been inferior to pc gaming

Just look at what sells on the hd systems. Pc like games like cod, halo, mw2. On top of this most hd gamers don't even want to play 2d games from console past. Most of you act like gaming started at the ps1. Most real hardcore gamers don't respect that view because games where so much more hardcore before the wanna bes took over.

Right now a direct sequel to one of nintendos most challenging games is kicking butt and being compared to hd gamings best. In the same manner smb3 was put up against wing commander and doom1.

No one cares about ff13. It's all about dragon quest which is on the wii now. Dq has always out sold ff games in japan. One of the main problems with HDTV owners is not the fact that the wii is not hd it is that their tv does not display any thing sd all too well. Hd wii is not needed if you bought an dlp ready HDTV. Yet a wii that had directx 11 or the new open gl or cl standard would be sweet. Also I would love to see 512 of SRAM sitting right on the chip just like the 88 kegs they have now. Then a sweet solid state drive and a pci express port for those good ol upgrades and extras. Only if they can make it affordable though no need in supporting the hardcore when they all buy nothing but cod ripe offs while every thing elses see a little over two million in sales on all systems.

I hope nintendo keeps the console a console and leave pc gaming and console gaming seperate. I don't really care about what patcher says but a new system is coming and it is tasting a lot like the n64 leep. 3d gfx effects are finally maturing and ram prices are coming in line with the power needed.

Motion plus has a few other things they can add and even the hd guys have not though these things up yet. Motion plus is the new analog stick. Plus arcade and console gaming has lost it character a bit trying to cater to hd fans I don't even want to call them hardcore because hardcore gamers enjoy the past games also not just ones on a certain console.

It's funny reading the comments here, in a way I feel like some echo why we have hd only fans now. Zelda 3d was a complete mess after the 2d ones in my eyes. Truthfully the problem is continuation.

I like link to the past and all games like it, chrono trigger , secret of mana, and even the last ff which was more of a turn based rpg. Yet I wanted more not different. I see the same things happening here.

3d Zelda was sort of like 3d Mario, yet the point is these should have been new ips rather than sequels because now they have a fan base that is splintered. It seems they want this fan base to grow together yet the game play is too different. When ever they make a 3d Zelda that can be played like the first Zelda or link to the past while also switching to 3d when ever you want then I think they could make the 2d guys happy.

Yet I think they may do a hybrid with motion plus yet they risk splintering it again. Or uniting a few fan bases. We have the dark Zelda fans the Velda fans and the old school Zelda fan and of course the woe it's 3d Zelda fans. Hopfully we will end up with a game we all can like. It is possible yet they really need to make new fans also yet with out loosing what the first game brought. View

Ju how much bandwith does a shader take, why does the newer gpus have such faster gddr ram and even SRAM in some cases? Well shaders gometry to pixel to programmable shaders all need what?

Now tell me how to write code that can get around this problem so I cam get paid. There is no way in he'll the rsx is using it's full polygon setup spec because that would mean that texture work is being done on the spu ok so what is the write speed from and to the cell and the rsx.

Now in krazy kens imaginary cell patient it does not really call for a system on a chip design and franklywhat you are talking about would be crazy expensive to make let along design an coding interface. So far the most I've seen people get out of the cell is low level after effect like vfxs. Most physics are canned other wise you would see cell cgi cards for major 3d modeling programmers and render man over hauled to use it.

Face it man it was a great idea yet poorly executed and then propted up with fanboys raves trying desperatly to keep hope alive or either stick it to ms. Both are valant but in vien enjoy your games ok cell is not the future or even close to it hardware wise and compiler wise.

Another thing is the larrabee clearly needs faster ram access to reach it's max gflop per dollar. Intel is serious about this and it seems they are on track and they do have all of the tech in place to make it happen from design to foundry tweaking so they will not have to ship chips with dead cores in it standard.

Ut2 is nice I guess but crysis amd quake wars says hey. Mega textures and local mega textures are coming what do you think tessalation was for? Go download any of those games and open up a editor we all know you are lucky to get a 512 texture in a ps3 game and 256 is the norm since most games are in sub hd resolutions.
