Now, what's the BEST game you've ever played?
100 days 9 hours ago | by: TheDeadMetalhead
Okay, so I've asked you what's the worst game that you've ever played. But now I ask you, what is the best game that you've ever played?

I've played a lot of good games, so it's very hard to decide which one is my favorite. Well, there's Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64), Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) and Gran Turismo 4 (PS2, haven't played 5 yet). But I would have to say I'm at a 3-way tie between Mario 3 (NES), Castlevania:Symphony of The Night (PS1), and Final Fantasy VIII (PS1). Mario 3 had excellent graphics, great music, more power-ups than probably any other Mario game to-date, and is one of the few NES games I still own. And Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (the image on the right) was one of longest, most challenging, and most suprising game I've ever played. Just when you had played 25+ hours and thought that you had finally gotten through Dracula's castle, the whole thing flipped (If you did things right), And you realize "Holy crap, I'm only halfway done!!!" Which was okay, because the game was so undeniably great and fun that you didn't care. And even though it was 2D, it was probably a good thing that it was. And do I even have to say why FFVIII is my favorite? Looked great, sounded great, and it had a whole new concept of battle with it. You didn't even use MP to cast spells, and you could equip magic to your stats to make them higher. And to top it off, the game was so huge, they needed 4 discs for it!!

But this is just my opinion. What's your favorite game or games? Like before, it can be any game on any system.

I'm ashamed to admit it....but my all-time favorite game is Pokemon Red / Blue.

I played those games for *hundreds* of hours.

1.1 - Why is that something to be ashamed of?
I mean, that game was THE Pokemon game! It was the best GB game hands-down (Gold, Silver, and Crystal had more pokemon, but suffered a MASSIVE difficulty decrease, and was much shorter than its predecessor) :)

Ok, fine...I'm not ashamed at all.

If I can find my old 1989 GameBoy, I'll give pokemon another run-through =)

Hard to choose... so.. heres a list.

SNES- Mega Man X3
GEN- Sonic 3 & Knuckles
PS1- Valkyrie Profile
SAT- Panzer Dragoon Saga
N64- Sin & Punishment
DC- Jet Grind Radio
PS2- Xenosaga
XBOX- Panzer Dragoon Orta
GC- Star Fox Assult
PC- Jazz Jackrabbit 2

Thats the games that held the most replay value for me, I won't go into newer games, simply because you can't play a game a short time and call it the greatest game ever.

If I was to pick one though, I'd have to go with Jet Grind Radio. I still pick that up now and then, (more than the others) put on the stereo and crank it.

(oh, Metalhead, you might want to try Castlevania: Noctourne in the Moonlight, it was the Saturn version of Symphony of the Night.)

Final Fantasy 7,8 and X are my favorite RPGs.

Shadow of Colossus is my all time favorite action/adventure game in the form of a platformer.

Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero was, and still is my favorite racing game, although the graphics are abysmal at best, and can only play at night, it is still my favorite for the customizations you can take part in for your ride.

Soul Caliber for the Dream Cast was my all time favorite fighter.

boy, I'm going to get some heat on this next one.

Resistance fall of man for the PS3, and Golden Eye for the N64 tie for the FPS of my heart, but for very different reasons.
I guess I need to explain a bit, for Resistance, my reason for just loving this game to death is the great story and over all pilot direction(40 player online and massive amounts of weapons didn't hurt".
As for Golden Eye, its about its multiplayer, and only its multiplayer.
just to throw an example out there, it was the first game you could shoot a grenade out of your enemys hand to explode it, pure genius.
The controls were a bit strange, but coming from a N64 controller, it was done extremely well.
Again, the massive amount of weapons made this a favorite, but is about 50/50 with resistance just for it not having a good enough story.

Thats about all I can think of for now, maybe later I'll think of more.
