I can give you a story. It was last night...6:30pm, I fired up the 360, downloaded the XNE. Created an avatar, got to the main screen. I looked around at the new set up. This all took about 30 min. I tried to access a par of the marketplace and my machine froze. It had been acting very sluggish since the update. I figured it was the network because of all the activity.

Powered down and came back a little while later. I fired it up again and downloaded the Netflix addon. After activating, It got to the page that shows what movies are in my queue, then the screen got all jumbled and froze. Powered off and on again. Went back to the same page and it did the same thing. This time I got the RROD.

This is the 3rd unit since the January after launch. As for MS not being under warranty, I don't know about that. I called MS and they are replacing it free of charge.

It just does. I was on my 3rd console. It has been fine for over a year (no lock ups or anything) until I updated today. It froze just navigating through the new menus. Then running netflix on it caused it to RROD. I doubt it was the actual netflix that caused it, but that is when it died. Now I have to wait 2-3 weeks to get a replacement from MS. It doesn't matter which was the problem (hardware or software) it is a problem to have to go through this. View

30 min before locking up. I got to customize my avatar and was checking out the new interface and then it froze. Turned off on again and logged into netflix. As soon as the streaming titles appeared , the screen went crazy and it froze. Powered off then on and logged into netflix and it did the same thing again. This time the RROD happened. This is my third 360 and had been fine for over a year. Now I have to MS to send a 4th. Here I go again... View

They only like working with typical PC programming. As everyone knows the 360 uses the same tools as with PC development which makes it extremely easy to develop for. View

I picked the game up a month ago and haven't stopped playing it since. I have 40+ mods. Granite some aren't that great, but the majority are excellent. Yes they even have a "Gears style" Camera (over the shoulder) and a couple Halo remake maps available. The guys on the forums at Epic are usually willing to cook the maps for the PS3 users, so I don't need the PC version.

The importing of the mods needs to be fixed. One at a time is a hassle, but the end result is extremely fun. Just because it isn't selling as well as expected doesn't mean it isn't worth owning and playing. View

Edit: Well it is a DOS program and that is why I was having trouble. Someone needs to come out with a GUI for it. View

They did offer big improvements and upgrades that are unique to PS3. They just aren't what you were looking for. View

The core is there. Have you played a PS3 game online yet? Aside from a couple features unique to live, it is the same. You get a great experience for free. Like I have said in previous post, there isn't any lag and most of the same features are there. I remember the issue with multiple buddy list. I have warhawk, resistance and motorstorm. All of which use the same master list. So, there isn't a problem.

I think that Sony didn't "get" it at first when it came to Live. They aren't as experienced as MS in regards to online. I do think that Home will have these "missing" features and a lot more added. It was supposed to be out right now. But it is a huge undertaking to get it off the ground. So, I am making an educated guess that 2.0 was supposed to have home and all these features, but they needed more time to get it right.

I hope that your memory hasn't failed you in that Live wasn't the same when it came out. It has evolved greatly.

Anyway, by the time you get over yourself and get the PS3 you won't have any of these issues.

It does suck. It just takes longer to join the game. That has been one of a couple things that has been a disappointment. They will get it right eventually. But I am not waiting for it. I have both machines and tend to buy games according to the strengths of each machine. View

There is not a splitscreen online multiplayer. This is a huge let down for me. I enjoy playing online just me on the machine, but I enjoy having some buddies over to play multi player online more. This is the same on the PS3 and Xbox 360. That is the main reason I got rid of call of duty 2. They do have 4 player split screen off-line, but that is it.

When the beta came out the question was posed as to if splitscreen was going to be in the final version. They told us it would and now it isn't.

I will still get the game, but will end up playing Halo 3 or Warhawk more because of the lack in split screen. View

Which performs better online? This is the only determining factor for me as to which version I buy(PS3 or 360). I played the beta on the 360 and with the limited number of people that had access to it, there were only a handful of times where it lagged out. I have had similar experiences on other 360 games especially Halo on big team battles, but I have yet to experience any lag when I play warhawk, resistance or motorstorm?

Can anyone actually answer this without a "fanboy" comment? View
