Yeah Windows 7 is apparently been toned down in the system resource department and is supposed to outperform Windows XP. If it can also take advantage of multicore CPUs that'll be even better.

While I typically try to post intelligently and with reserve, I really feel the need to ask, are you on crack? When has stealing intellectual property ever been a solution other than to ones greed and sense of self importance? You want to think outside the box? Try thinking of someone other than yourself. Piracy serves the needs of the individual that has decided to steal what is not theirs. People that promote piracy are either incredibly ignorant or feel they are above the system and everyone around them. You aren't special and you are certainly not better than anyone else. What you are is a thief and not even a thief of necessity, you are a thief of greed taking something you do not need to survive.

You're contributing to the society, you're still adapting to this marketing nuance, the way the corperations run, is every individual a corperation? They could be, chances are they aren't, the internet is bigger than you and I can imagine, you just don't understand how important it is yet.

You're going to defend a topic that will literally never die because piracy as you call it will never cease. I could very well say the same to you, a price tag on everything, monopolism? Capitolism? That sounds awfully greedy, how about the unnecessery middle men in business?

Piracy can actually be a solution.. a friend of mine had bought Fallout 3 for the PC legally, installed it and it didn't run because of the DRM.. He had to crack a legally bought game.

Piracy is ONLY a solution if the program's DRM doesn't work! otherwise i personally don't agree with piracy.

Anyways (getting back on topic) this is a story posted on Informationweek and many other reputable sites have talked about the beta leak of Windows 7.

Also, this is a beta we are talking about. A non-purchasable product. I wouldn't doubt if MS really cares about this. They probably like the feedback they have been getting.

I'm not speaking for anyone but myself, but you lost a bubble from me for talking about things you seem to have zero knowledge of.

You are a living, breathing trd. People don't realize that big corporations aren't the only ones that suffer from piracy. Small outfits, struggling artists and other creative individuals suffer the most because they are least able to absorb piracy losses. Perhaps someday when you create something original in the hope of earning a living from it, only to have somebody take it for free, then maybe YOU will understand. But that doesn't look likely because you don't sound at all like someone with any talent. Come on, prove me wrong, make something original so I can steal it too.

Know this: piracy kills creative industries. Look at all the countries with poor intellectual property protection (China, India, etc.) and you will find that they generate little home-grown innovation, relying instead on copying the breakthroughs achieved by others.

If I was never a sale to be had by the company, what does it matter if I use the program? I can't afford it, I never would have bought it, so there's absolutely no loss to the company. But there is a gain, in that more people use their product, and if it's a good product, that means free publicity/word of mouth.

For music it get's a bit more ridiculous. Does a person not become a musician so they can bring their music to the world? I'm sure 99% of musicians start out that way. A musician should be glad that as many people as possible can listen to their music, money or not. If a person has the money and likes the music, then they will contribute. Same goes for other pirated stuff.

And this isn't the earliest beta. There was a beta leaked before this one also, that was less stable.

I'm far from the "grampa" stage in life, but still old enough not worry about being "cool". I'm also old enough to know what piracy does to not only companies, but also individual developers and other creative talent that works hard to create the things we enjoy. When you are able to see things from their perspective it helps you to understand how piracy really affects them.

As for people that steal things they can't afford to buy, that is a lame excuse unless you are living in an impoverished third world country. If you are living in a place that has a hard time affording food and shelter, then I can understand your point of view. If you are living in a country where the opportunity is there for you to work and afford things you don't need, then you are simply being lazy. I can't afford a new Porshe. Does this give me the right to steal one since I wouldn't have bought one anyway? You may see that as being different then a game or CD since those won't be missing out of anyones inventory, but it's the same, That is one less copy sold. If you can't afford it, then you don't need it. If you really want something you will work for it. It's much easier to not work for something you can get for free illegally.

As for my "cool" name, it's short for my Gamertag and PSN I.D. which is DeathscytheHC. It's a Gundam from a Japanese Anime. I'm sure this explanation does nothing to improve my cool factor but you have to admit it adds points to my geek-factor.

Everything you have said is to justify stealing property that does not belong to you. It's electronic so it doesn't count. That is funny. You think the world is going to evolve with digital distribution but you prove that this form of distribution makes it easy to steal. If you steal something from someone and they don't know it, does that mean it wasn't a crime? People like you are like deer in headlights when they sit in front of a judge and are handed a prison sentence and very heavy fines. Keep your arguements written down or memorized so you can use them in court one day if you are one of the unlucky few that get caught. I am sure the judge will be just as convinced by your arguements justifying your actions.

If it comes to that then there is no other solutions, fight fire with fire or adapt to the situation, right now we're fighting the situation and under the circumstances it's not a liability but people aren't taking accountability neither side is playing fair, but like Kak said, digital investments have a grander functionality than the physical dimensions.

I really believe all this hoo-ha will force us to work together, individualism, separatism whatever you wanna call it isn't working and I'm definitely not saying the change needs to happen now but eventually there won't be many options left.

pirating is similar to terrorism.. both think they are the solution, both aren't the solution..

your sixth comment just said exactly why people shouldn't pirate.. not all of the money you pay goes to the artists.. true.. but the other money doesn't go to some random guy in some random place that has nothing to do with the digital content. essentially ANYONE that has done ANYTHING for the digital content gets a share, if that's fair or not, the end users shouldn't care, my point is that all the money goes to someone that has helped in w/e way with the digital content.

another thing.. imagine you creating a movie (say you sell it for $10), i download it, you already lost one sale, that is $10 less to share between creator/publisher/advertiser and whatnot. Now i HIGHLY doubt that $10 will make much difference to any of the bigger companies.. but if everyone started thinking like that? that $10 could grow to millions.. The creators of the content are only as human as you are, they try to put food on their table, and basically you're stealing their stuff..

@Death: Lol, again, THAT'S STEALING SOMETHING THAT EXISTS. It is removing an item from one place and putting it in another. Even if the person doesn't know, you have still removed something.

When you download something, you are not removing it from it's original place. You are making a copy. Nothing is lost. And if nothing is lost, then how is there any f*cking reason to complain?

Let's say I was making good money like you seem to be and not crap. Then maybe I would have $200 dollars to spend on a program or a few games. But I would still pirate it first. Know why? Because I would like to test the product first and if it turned out to be good, then they can have my money. But sadly I only make enough money to pay my bills and for food.

Piracy allows us to fight against draconian DRM, allows us to test things fully to see if they deserve our money. And allows those who truly can't afford games/music/software/movies to still experience these great things, instead of having a bleak boring life. Sure a few people pirate for the sake of just having things for free. But the number of those types of people is grossly exaggerated. Piracy is the main reason many are switching to AD based revenue. Allowing people to use things for free by gaining revenue threw AD's seen by consumers.

I'd also like to add, eventually, far in the future people will create things for the sake of creating and sharing it with other people. Money will no longer be involved, because money will be extinct. This will be caused by the rising intelligence of robotics, which WILL eventually take over almost every job that doesn't have to do with inventing/thinking up new ideas. Because of this, to many people will be unemployed, so we will have to move to a contribution based society. Where people learn skills and contribute to things freely, too better human life, not to reward ones self. People will be free to do as they please, whether it's sit at home and play games all day, create art or music, or learn new things to help contribute to society better.

The future will be grand. I also hope to live that long to see it, many advances are being made in longevity research. Scientist's say it's quite possible we will be able to extend our life spans at least 20-40% within the next 20-30 years. And even further down the road, possibly extend our life span for eternity. (Assuming you don't get thrown in a wood chipper)

You do know that microsoft knows about this leak and isnt doing anything about it. Its the same reason they didnt block people from getting the NXE early. They have stated numerous times that this Beta will be available to the public in Jan. My guess is next week at CES. So these people have just gotten access to something that we will all have access to in the coming weeks.

Most companies still use XP. Our IT guys haven't authorized Vista for corporate use yet. Most haven't, not because Vista is horrible, etc...it is just foolish not to wait a couple years (or more) in case of some unknown issue....like XPs blaster worm virus, for example. Also don't forget about the cost...lol.

I still use XP at home, but I may get Vista soon (or just wait for 7)

I need try out a 64 bit OS. My friend says his computer is zooming and he bought vista. I have a 64 bit processor so I should be using it.

just install it on a different hard drive, thats what i did. Ive been using windows 7 for about a week now and i like it. it does seem to use a little less resorces than vista does however vista runs like a dream on my machine also because im running a quad core with 4 gigs of ram. tomorrow im going to install it on my p4 1.4ghz pc and see how it runs on that.
