The Motorola Droid is the newest smartphone out of the Motorola camp that launched on November 6, 2009. The release date comes just under a month after Verizon and Google announced their intentions to enter into a partnership, wherein both companies would work to develop wireless devices that would make use of the Android Mobile platform. Android, initially developed by Google and then later by the Open Handset Alliance, is a mobile operating system that runs on the Linux kernal and is geared to maximize performance for advanced web services, email, social network and entertainment.
