Sony refuses to recall overheating Vaio laptops

Sony has warned owners of its Vaio TZ series laptops than they may massively overheat, after seven people in Japan suffered from light burns. 87 people in Japan complained of the overheating fault - and more overseas - but the company refused to recall the 440,000 laptop computers because "there is no risk or fires or serious injuries". Just "light burns" then.

Instead Sony is urging the users who've experienced overheating with the laptops - which span 280 models - to take their computers to the manufacturer for free repairs.

"The laptop computers overheat in the section connecting the display and the keyboard, as the joint section bites into a bunch of wires inside the computer," a Sony spokesman told ABS CBN News.
