The iPhone either doesn't work and will be recalled or will sell 58 million units in the next 18 months

Perspective is a funny thing. Reading many of the headlines for the past two weeks within the tech blogosphere you'd think the iPhone 3G was a massive failure.

Depending on what you read, the 2.0.1 software update either slightly improved the phone's speed or made it slower, the 2.0.2 update either mildly corrected 3G connection issues or made them worse, Apple will offer a software fix for connection issues in September or it can only be corrected through a massive recall to fix a faulty chip.
