Well here is the first user review for The Conduit. I really was hoping this game would be awesome, as Wii owners needed to quench the thirst over the lack of hardcore games. Well the game we've all been talking about is finally here. Does it deliver?? Yes.
Let's talk about the game's story, which was called by many N4G users generic. This is where the game is lacking, the game has a generic but at the same time interesting story. The game is set in 200X (we never learn that) where aliens invade Washington D.C. The Trust is trying to fight the threat, but they betray you and you work with "Prometheus" to stop them. That is all I am going to go from here. The cutscenes in the game are not really cutscenes, but rather similar to the cutscenes from Star Fox 64. That is where the game fails. The game is itself a corridor shooter (mainly) where you are fighting through hallways, corridors, tunnels, etc. The game feels very closed in at times and you can't really explore. The game is entirely in a first-person perspective, which is sad since you NEVER see the character you are playing as. Overall it is a OK story, but the campaign's presentation is terrible. Oh, and the story is VERY short. I beat the game in like 4-7 hours.
The gameplay in the game is very good. The control customization in the game is very unique and is the main selling point. Personally I control the default controls, but the control options are very vast. You can change the bounding box, turning speed, running speed, controls, turning speed on both vertical and horizontal axis, etc. The game is a shooter, there are no vehicles in the game and it is a run 'n gun 100%. Using the All-Seeing Eye is a very unique interesting addition, in a attempt to add some variety. It works, but sometimes you are attacked by invisible enemies who can be stunned by the ASE. Those parts are VERY annoying, especially when you are being shot at using the ASE. Overall, pretty good.
The game has very good graphics, but at the same time you feel that the Wii can do way more than this. The single player has a lot of great looking scenes, but the multiplayer is a little fuzzy and usually runs at 20 frames per second. I'll get to that later. The sound is VERY good. The music is VERY GOOD.
Most of the top games have a interesting multiplayer. Killzone 2 has a large and strategic multiplayer with shifting objectives. Resistance 2 has a VERY large multiplayer mode. Call of Duty has a multiplayer where you can use perks (which is very good). The Conduit has a small simple multiplayer structure. The game has 12 players of simply shooting each other. ASE Football is the game's version of Oddball. Bounty Hunter is another unique mode, with players hunting a specific target. The game has some laggy moments, players jumping from left to right, and doens't look as good as the single player. Character customization is practically useless, as you don't know what character you are playing as. The game's multiplayer is addicting though and is still enjoyable. Unfortunently, I only have 1 friend online currently, so I haven't tried the WiiSpeak yet. Send me a message containing your friend code so we can.
Overall it is a very good game. The game has a good single player and multiplayer mode, but needs impovements for the sequel (which is going to happen).
