3.00 update is gonna be huge.

im sure in game xmb
and in game messaging

home in itself will have trophies and everything.

i think when this update comes, sony will see more software sales.
people will have a reason to wanna buy the game for the ps3 since it will have things that will make the game that much funner now.

I like in game messaging but I can do without the in-game XMB if it means they can reduce the XMB memory usage to improve game performance for future games.

am i the only ps3 owner in the world who is still trying to work out what the point of this is? is it just an excuse to give up on going out altogether so when you're in between games of MGS4 and KZ2 you can chat to friends without ever have to see them in the flesh again?

Sorry, dont get the appeal. Just give us an in-game xmb and a more intuitive media browsing interface!!! (oh, and a few more damn games please - i've gone back to playing God of war 2 because i've finished every damn ps3 game i've played!)

It's cool that Home can be used to set up multiplayer games and then launch directly into them.

And, LordCheese, Home has no point, it's the features like Trophies and in-game XMB that matter to most people, Home is a distraction at best.

not trolling here at all, but if its really about features such as multiplayer game launching, game invites, achievements and the like (as opposed to all the social gimmick-ness), why dont sony take a look at some (not all) of the things m$ did with the 360 dashboard? Its definately not without its faults, but inviting people to games is really easy (needs clan support tho) and the achievements are non-intrusive enough that they work pretty well.

I am not in any way saying sony should copy m$, but given a lot of gamers are happy with those sort of features in the 360 dash, why not develop something that uses some of those ideas? The ps3 is ridiculously powerful, but why use up loads of system resources with some silly online town thingy when the features are what people are crying for? The xmb should be as lightweight as possible so you leave the resources free to keep the games running as well as possible.

Honestly? I think it's just to have something different. If they copy XBox Live, they'll take heat for it, if they don't get the same features, they'll take heat. It's a bit of a no win.

I wouldn't even mind if Sony copied XBox Live and all its options, because Live works and works well. PSN is a decent service for just playing online, but it's pretty bare bones. XBox Live makes you feel like you do have some kind of online identity. I think that needs to be addressed on PSN.

completely agree - the gamercard system (and i do realise its somewhat dangerous to talk like this on a sony thread nowadays) is brilliant and sony would be well advised to look at how they can do something that gives the same level of "identity" to your online presence - right now its what sets live apart from other forms of online gaming really. So long as they dont get too ambitious with it - when it comes to firing up a session on something like COD4, simplicity wins every time - thats why console online gaming has so much more potential than equivalents on the pc imo - i never want to see another server browser in my life!!!!!

15.2 - two words - gamer score

There is a huge problem right now with people quitting games to keep their score high. They have the same problem on Resistance, to the point that Insomniac had to implement a penalty system for the quitters. People are so wrapped up in k/d ratio that every time they get beat they quit. It's a huge joke to see some noob with a 3.0 k/d that leaves every time you shoot him. If they can find a way to show quits / PS quits on the tag then I'm all for it. Reward the players that actually play the game and don't leave the rest of the team when things don't go their way. Show games played and completions as a percentage, total score, achievments, clan, k/d and some other info.
