PS3 In France Gets A Significant Boost In Sales

100.000 PS3 sold in France Within a Month.

Sony Computer Entertainment announced today by the means of a press release to have sold 100.000 PlayStation 3 in France since 12 October 2007.The French market answered with enthusiasm ever since the introduction of the new PS3 40 Giga model priced at 400 euros. Sony France had this to say,
"Our factories are in full production mode to meet this high demand and to avoid any out-of-stock condition. Our initial objective of selling 500 000 units come December 31 will be largely exceeded and give way for a season record in sales, ' declares George Fornay, chairman of SCE France and Senior Vice-president of SCE Europe.

In all honesty I think the PS3 has done well...for beign priced at $600..and with the price coming down things are only looking better for Sony which means only good stuff for us PS3 owners

Great news for Sony, that's for sure. Ratchet & Clank has sold nearly 150,000 units in under 2 weeks of it's "offical" release. That makes it the 2nd fastest selling game for the system. Japan is going to lap it up this week too. It'll go on to sell a million for sure.

I hope more people buy into Warhawk than they already have too. I want that game to be hugely successful cause Sony needs stuff like that.

Now tahts (partially) out of the way, PS3 is being sold like hot cakes :D

BTW, 500k PS3's sold in France from March 23rd (date the PS3 was released there, and the rest of Europe, for that matter) till the end of the year is VERY impressive IMO :)

Wish there was actually an hardware tracking system in Europe...I have a feeling many PS3's sold in Europe aren't being added up to those sales totals in some sites...

Meh, good for them.

I don't want the PS3 taking the lead again, if it'll cause another debacle of Sony arrogance, I'd prefer a 33% market share amongst all the companies. Make them race each other and force them to give more and more and more.

Hmmmm.... I think there is a translation problem here. The translation says since October of last year, France has sold 100,000 PS3s... Makes no sense considering obviously the PS3 release date wasn't October, but why in the translation does it say since last year?

I'm glad no one cares about winning the console war anymore. all i wanted that the ps3 would reach a considerable amount of units sold worldwide so third party support would continue for it. let's just hope sales increase in the north American market cause it's the biggest one out there.

now I'm going to play mario galaxy, it's been i while since i touched the wii but it was worth it just for this game.

Well France doesn't mean so much with 500k units sold in from March to the end of the year, when in USA alone September and October the 360 sold over 500k units a month and the PS3 only sold 130k a month. OUCH

Put the cork back in the champagne bottles because the French are no different than the Germans who are no different than the English who are no different than the Americans: PS3 price cut spikes sales for a week, sales taper off sharply for 3 weeks & within the month settle back into pre-price cut levels.
