NY Times: Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves Review

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, developed by Naughty Dog and published recently by Sony for its PlayStation 3 console, is a major step forward for gaming. Uncharted 2 is perhaps the best-looking game on any system, and no game yet has provided a more genuinely cinematic entertainment experience.

High praise indeed. He also puts in a plug for Sony Bravia as well. That's what I have my PS3 hooked up to and I love it.

Wow those are some REALLY kind words. I felt he spent too much time talking about the graphics though. That said I myself cant get over how good it looks, it constantly blows me away.

4 - Finally found the time...
...to finish the game today. Wow, what an experience! wasn't perfect all the way through but the game gave me the same feeling I got when I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark for the first time. So many things about this game are just...perfect. The consistently high level of detail in the scenery is just crazy! most impressive graphics for me were towards the end when it was raining. The way it looked like water was running down the walls and everything was wet was the best I have ever seen in a game.

Only negative for me is that there are not enough people in Australia and New Zealand playing this game on-line. Multiplayer is a very thick icing on an already delicious cake but the lack of players means lag, lag and even more lag.

7 - I like this sentence here:
"Uncharted 2 is perhaps the best-looking game on any system, and no game yet has provided a more genuinely cinematic entertainment experience."

9 - UC2 is an incredible game...
No doubt. But folks seem to have forgotten just how incredible Killzone 2 looks. I think it is still king in the console graphics department. With UC2 a VERY close 2nd. Story wise...UC2 hands down.

Yeah KZ2 is still an amazing looking game and tbh I feel that KZ2 does a lot more on a technical level with the particle effects, how npc's react to being hit with bullets, the lighting in the game etc.

Both games are jaw droppingly beautiful in their own way and they are fantastically fun games to play on top of that.

Killzone2 technically has better graphics and technology use; But Uncharted 2 has better scenes, scenery, use of colour and art style. So it looks more pleasing to the eye. But Killzone 2 does top it as far as realism, particles and so on go.

Staring off the top of the Hotel across the city and off into the mountains was an incredible moment in the game.
