New GoWIII trailer coming, looks better than most recent screens

Nick @ PS3Center writes:

A select few(including yours truly) got to go hands on with God of War III over the weekend, as Sony released the highly publicized E3 demo in limited quantities. Fresh off the hype of the demo, God of War III's lead gameplay animator Bruno Velazquez answered some fan questions, and we've picked out some of the more interesting tidbits.

I know many people still complain that GOW doesn't look as good as other PS3 exclusives, but the environments look amazing. The main thing about GOW though, is the gameplay, it is the best in the hack n slash genre.

I hope the graphics do improve, but they look fine to me, and already better than Dante's Inferno, which is all the matters really.

For me, GOW has always been about the epic story. Games like DMC or Ninja Gaiden are all about action, but I feel like GOW3 blends everything together so seemlessly.

I swear to god I hate how PS3center doesn't work on the PS3 browser. They ALWAYS have stories/articles I want to real but can't. I can't trell you how aggrivated I get when I so often click on a N4G link and I get "PS3Center, coming to a PS3 browser near you soon". I've been seeing that for like 3 years now!!!!

I remember something about them saying around the time of E3 that they'd try to get it running at 1080p.
I wonder if they'll manage to achieve that.

edit: I guess they went for making it look better rather than giving it a higher resolution.

The looks amazing already and this is the E3 demo (made in June 09 over 5 months ago) so I can just imagine what the final version will look like. I'm amazed by God of War 3 and it will be everything gamers expect it to be. God of War 3 will be the game to top Uncharted 2.

Fix the knock down animation (the double bounce is kind of weird).

And hopefully Santa Monica gets the game locked at 60fps, because it's completely noticeable when the game is running 30fps and when it's at 60fps, and 60fps just feels right for this game.

Genres that need 60fps from now on.

Action games (GOW, DMC, Ninja Gaiden, etc...)
Fighting games
Racing games
Sports games

@Abi

I heard they are aiming for 60fps but having the game drop down to 30fps if needed, for example when there are a lot of action, enemies on screen. I definitely agree with that this game will be incredible, as jaw dropping as the old E3 demo is, we know the finished version is gonna be better.

I remember people were already having trouble telling if some of the GamePro screens were real or concept art. Can't believe it looks better :P

4 - Whats up with the blood?
I played the E3 demo that was just released (from the June 09 build) and the only thing I am disappointed with is the way the blood looks. It just doesn't look right. It doesn't fly right. It just ain't right.

Most of the time it looks black, but every single globule has a little reflective white mark on it and it just looks off. I was hoping that something like riding a cyclops and stabbing it in the neck would actually open a bleeding wound instead of the same old "spray" effect that is so reflective it looks like metal.

Hopefully they have spent a good amount of time on the blood and the way it looks, moves, and reacts to the environment because right now, its an eyesore to an otherwise incredible looking game.

So you're asking for realtime wounds and bleeding on a game which is basically a massive wound on steroids bleeding from beginning to end??

No mate, you need to wait for the gen after next gen for that.

to that due to the action...but I don't necessarily like how the blood absorbs/disappears on the ground.

Well the game looks great right now, so knowing that it will improve visually is just awesome.

What they need to make sure there is none on the retail version is the framerate issues when fighting many enemies.

That's the only issue I encountered on the demo which is a build from E3 so I expect them to fix it of course.

8 - 10-20 Hours
I think the best thing about the article is the fact that they say the game will last between 10-20 hours depending on your skill level. I was nervous it would be like 8-15, but now I'm PUMPED.

It really depends on the level of hardness you play on, I managed to complete GoW 1 in 3 hours in a speed run on easy, and on very hard I did it in about 5 hours

GoW2 on very hard 20 hours, which is how the game should be played or of coarse on hard as very hard option is not available on the first play. Playing on easy or medium makes it less of a game to me, and focuses on rushing through to the end IMO.

I usually like to play a game on the normal setting the first time through. It gives a bit of a challenge but still lets you enjoy yourself. After you've seen what there is to see, it's fun to jack up the difficulty for the second time through.

11 - Why not release the trailer right now, like they should have
released the demo on PSN for everyone to enjoy. It doesn't makes sense for them to force us to drive down to game store or place an order online in order to get the demo code. That doesn't guarantee them GOW sales as people can cancel their order just as easily as they placed it after they get their codes. Those who want to buy will buy the game. Having it on PSN will be less of a hassle.

*Edit, just got the code, gonna try it now. I'm happy :). I still stand by my statement though.

Sorry, but I won't be looking at any trailers/previews for this game. I want to be 100% surprised by the quality and gameplay. Why ruin the fun by looking at trailers or reading articles? I think the best part about gaming is being surprised. Once a game is released though, I skim reviews to see what's good and bad, but I do my best to avoid anything that talks about gameplay details.
