Warhawk hits the one million milestone

Two years later, though, the title is still kicking and has finally hit the one million player mark, according to the online leader boards! Incognito deserves a salute for managing to achieve that number. They have been especially supportive of the online community, releasing several DLC packages to keep the game fresh.

I think the main reason people didn't buy it was because, 1, it was early on in PS3s lifecycle, and 2, it was multiplayer only.

warhawk was awesome at the time, but it would be infinitely better if it had a solid single player and a bad ass co-op mode. personally i think the game requires classes considering the scope of the game. it's basically a third person battlefield game with a mixture of halo.

can't wait for the next warhawk/starhawk game. i'm just not sure if they should keep the auto aim or include manual aiming like most shooters.

i think they screwed up on the ground combat

the aerial combat was perfect and smooth, but there wasnt enough warhawks most of the time

and if u were ever in a jeep or on foot, its impossible to go up against a tank or a warhawk

the graphics were absolutely perfect but the flaws were there

if they had made it more like socom with the infantry controls
and balance out so humans could actually survive and do some damage it would have been much much better

i mean humans only had one rifle haha and if u ran into those mines it was instant death
not very fair
kinda frustrating, thats why i stopped

but i still loved it, worth every penny

A million for an online only Downloadable game? Men oh men they made some good money on this title. So it's looking like 1.5-2mill life time, awesome.

As wee all know, success to PS3 exclusives mean - insanely improved quality for it's sequels. Starhawk with SP campaign here we come! woot! :D :D :D

They need to start releasing maps for this game, I could care less about the little extras like jet pack, dropship etc., they are nice but are not really needed IMO.

Some extra maps are needed, and force team balance. I hate it when you join a game that is stacked, and there is no way of leaving your spawn base.

Also that one trophy of having a fully loaded Dropship is hard to get, no one ever wants to get in the damm thing. Atleast not 6 people.

One thing I'd like to see is a mobile AA gun, basically a tank that instead of a turret is the AA gun. That would be cool

I'd like to see a mode with two large ships are battling it out and your goal is to land your warhawk reach it's reactors and destory them or just hit it with another missiles.

Starhawk is meant to be a sequel to Warhawk, apparently set in space. This is all rumoured though.

Warhawk back in the day was awesome, I remember waking up in the middle of the night just to play some matches.
I hope the next game has much better controls when you are on foot, with an over-the-shoulder aiming mechanic or something. The auto-aim feels dated in Warhawk.

8 - What Starhawk needs to have to be awesome

1) Increase to number of players from 16 vs 16 to 30 vs 30
2) Awesome graphics - don't go for the realistic look just keep the cartoonish/realistic look but just make it look better.
3) Futuristic weapons and Environment
4) THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL - JETPACKS in every game! If this is the sequel and future version to Warhawk then jetpacks better be in Starhawk. Because Jetpacks change the way Warhawk was played and many people never played with it either because, they didn't want to by the dlc which came with the map Tau Crater which nodoby plays to today, they sold they Warhawk or stop playing b4 Jetpacks came out or just don't know about it..

Tau Crater was a disappointing update for me - they forgot to put that map into rotation on the official servers, which is where I always played.

Also some of the trophies were questionable, like "Start a clan". Many people didn't get their plats just because they didn't want to leave their clan.

Men look, this was a 1st gen online only title that had a lot of trouble in development and it still came out great for a lot of gamers. With this kind of success look for Starhawk to totally eclipse Warhawk2 in every single department.

I'm willing to bet you won't even recognize the game just from the graphics alone cause it's going to be overly glaringly more superior especially since they're going to have SP campaign.

E3 next year will be fire!

10 - a question for Warhawk fans

in Starhawk, if they put in a FPS view, outside or even inside vehicles, do you think that would be a good idea?

EDIT: the option, like in the press of a button or if you go to the settings at least

@10.2 - and in vehicle in Battlefield 1943 you can change perspectives

Unless you can play in FPS, then yes; because for some reason you go into 3rd person when you enter every vehicle known in FPS (except for quake wars and battlefront), which feels kinda sucky, If you "stay in character", it gives the game a consistent feel. Switching perspectives feels kinda crummy.

You have no idea, I use proflight and aren't very good, but these people where using motion sensing and could fly better.

Now is actually a good time for Warhawk, I suggest Nother Bridge it's my favorite map.

Woop. It was a dream come true when I saw the first trailer for this game. Flying was good enough for me but dog fighting, ground combat jeeps, tanks, a huge variety of weapons both on the ground and in the air and then 3 DLCs with backwards compatibility on previous maps. All this online. OMG! Can't wait for Starhawk if its real!

Warhawk's awesome! Air, vehicle, foot, turrets, everything was just so seamless yet had its own distinct feel. You could get totally pwned yet never feel totally helpless. Loved bringing down planes with my rocket launcher, or even a well placed grenade lol! Huge maps, if you gave it time and got past the learning curve, it was (and is) just an awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome online game.

I'm very happy for Incognito because Warhawk was an awesome game, only thing that could have made it better would have been a kick ass single player campaign.

I moved on from it a while aog but I spent quite a bit of time with the game (mostly sucking) but loved every minute of it.

Looking forward to see what they do next!

..who didn't like this game. I really hate this game, I suck at it, and it gave me zero incentive to train myself to be good at it, so yes, worst 40usd I spent on PSN. Battlefield 1943 ftw.. (I was already a BG1942 guy, so yes, warhawk wasn't my type, but I bought it for its positive reviews -no demo available at the time.)

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you OP. I just couldn't get the flow right with this game. So many gamers are having a blast with this thing but it just never gelled for me.

I'm hoping I can get into it with SP in Starhawk though :D

Great! I keep telling people:

Before Metal Gear Online, COD4, Halo 3, Left 4 Dead, Uncharted 2, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2, there was Warhawk! Still the best online experience I ever had. I gotta admit, it was really tough to rank up, though
