NFS franchise has surpassed 100M units sold

EA has announced that the Need for Speed franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold life to date.

The recent release of Need for Speed Shift pushed the franchise over the 100M mark, making it the best-selling racing brand in the gaming world. The franchise has generated over $2.7 billion in life-to-date sales.

Good for them! I put a lot of hours into this franchise, especially Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit. It's nice seeing a decent game sell well that deserves it.

We have come a long way since the PC-CD/3D0 Title, The Road and track presents The need for speed, with some ups and downs however I will always have a spot in my heart for The Need for Speed franchise.

I think they got a lot less creative and innovative after NFS: Most Wanted; It's a racing sim of which every year the only even minor update is the car list and graphics. They were lucky to get this far.

Oh and I forgot to mention it gets a new map every year to which portray a subtle remembrance to the previous map.

That pretty sums up most of the recent popular racing franchises that has had sequels imho. From Forza to Gran Turismo, albeit for GT it has been every 5 years and Forza every 3. In fact for GT and Forza, it has many of the original tracks, some dating 10 years now, and that`s fine by me. As long as the updates make it fresh and the game is still funm I am happy, and that has been the case with most good racing franchises, at least the ones I have named, that`s for sure.

I seriously didn't know the franchise was that popular. I've always despised NFS. NFS:Shift is a very fun game though...You really get immersed with the game but no other NFS came close. Shift might as well have been a new IP. Hell EA could have just called it Shift.

GBA,cellphones and cereal boxes,it is very possible to do.

break down it's sales by platform and let us see the real numbers.they have made dozens of NFS games as nintendo has made marios.and not all great in quality.

i liked only 1,2 and 3(Hot Pursuit) before the series went straight downhill copying every other game from GT to Tokyo Extreme Racer.only Hot Pursuit 2 brought it back up momentarily.

the latest only proved that EA couldn't make a good game themselves and had to have someone else do it for them.i still wouldn't buy it.

and while they were sh!tting out poor racing games,they did the same to the road rash series.then when burnout was kicking the NFS serie's @ss,what did EA do?

THEY BOUGHT OUT THEIR COMPETITION WHEN IT GOT MORE POPULAR.

or,they used their marketing money to kill other franchises like tokyo extreme racer with underground,killed nba jam with nba street(kinda good),killed nfl blitz with nfl street.killed nfl2k series by buying up all the football licenses.

EA still sucks.monopolizing and crappy updates.

BTW according to you all titles that fall under FAILO 3's 10 million sold is a FLOP.

As you can see the PS3's list is more diverse and is not saturated with SHOOTERS...
