Two new GTA IV DLC episodes due next year - analyst

Take-Two and Rockstar are expected to release two brand new downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV in fiscal 2010, and release GTA V the following financial year.

That's according to analyst Todd Mitchell, who told GamesIndustry.biz that following the release of Xbox 360 exclusives The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, two all-new episodes are due – possibly across both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

1.1 - Doubt it
The truth is, Rockstar knows that a full GTA title will generate more revenue and media coverage than DLC. It just doesn't make sense to do any more DLC.

1.2 - Unless...
They are developing brand new engines in order to help optimize GTAV. In that case, it would be awhile before GTAV is released.

That would make it plausible for them to release 2 more DLCs to help fund GTAV and keep the gamers happy at the same time.

Well if they do the DLC for both platforms it might actually sell quite well. Im sure the PS3 audience is quite hungry for some DLC since they havent gotten anything yet. And ofcourse im not speaking for the members on N4G because im sure they will just say GTA4 sucked :P

1.4 - I wouldn't say GTAIV sucked...
I would say it lacked a lot of features San Andreas had. It basically had all the features Vice City had... except for the online mode which I don't use.

I still haven't finished GTA4 as it is... only 33% when it sucked the fun out of gaming. As for some "expansions" nah, I'll pass. More of the same wont help at this point.

It's nice Rock* is trying to add some depth to the storyline, but to sacrifice gameplay to do so just = fail. GTA3/VC/& SA where good games due to pushing the gameplay boundries. Back then it was all about the gameplay and that is what sold the game. The story was just background material to add some purpose to the gameplay.

GTA4 is all story, little gameplay. Go here, shoot there, run from cops, repeat, repeat, repeat. The sad part is, for a story driven game, it feels like there is very little character development. Everyone is just bit part players in a B-movie, including Nic.

Ohh well... let me move on before I really get started.

Nice, these 2 Expansion have equalled 30 hours or more with new multiplayer modes, characters, locations, weapons. Its like a full new 30 hour game divided into 2 stories for 30$. A GREAT deal.

Only had a deal for two DLCs, so the next two are quite probably going to be on PS3.

4 - Good news
for PS3 owners, the DLC is epic, and deserves to be experienced by ALL gamers. Although id rather have them work on GTA5 rather than DLC, i take what i can get lol

That's great and all, but I would prefer if all of their resources went into developing the next full game, not DLC.

(Or are North the ones working on Agent, I can't recall at the moment)

DLC might add a little experience for some people but I believe that if a O.G game is not worth while then nothing can change even if you add some DLC material....

R* should just focus on the next GTA...

After the latest game, the gta series has become rather tedious. I really hope they put there energy on something new and fresh (hopefully Agent will be that game) instead of a new gta.

Am I the only one who finds the online experience of GTA IV to be lacking, outdated, and repetitious? At times the game seems like it's running at 15 frames and that just isn't as solid an experience as I'd hope for. Large games tend to always be way too hectic and spammy as well. Sometimes it feels like a stupid wild west draw duel. When two players spawn next to each other with pistols, the battle primarilyrides on luck as to who comes out victorious.

The story is excellent, but we need some better servers stability. I am aware of the techical feet of putting 16 players in the entirety of Liberty City with minimal graphical cuts (especially on 360) but Jesus christ is this game slow sometimes.

Well, my rant is over, sorry everyone...

It won't even be called GTA V, just because its the next GTA doesn't mean it will be classed as GTA 5. Inbetween GTA 3 and 4, there was vice city and san andreas. I won't be suprised we play another 2 gta games before we see one titled V.

13.1 - Correct
You see all these comments wanting GTA V... It's not likely until next generation of consoles.

Think about it.

They spent over $100 Million making GTA IV and its advanced specialized open world engine RAGE made especially for the PS3 and 360. They're going to want to get more than one GTA game out of that engine as well as other games.

Instead of doing the next full numbered sequel they'll probably do the Vice City San Andreas thing from last generation. DLC packs could be the method. They just announced a disc version of the two 360 DLC packs. Could be the model...

Lost and The Damned was awesome. Far better than GTA IV. Not as long of course but great content. I'm glad the new stuff is supposedly coming to PS3. Hopefully the fanboys will get over themselves and enjoy the great content for what they are instead of hold a lame grudge.
