Konami's Week of Announcements Ends in Tears

Examiner: "Konami has let down Metal Gear Solid 4 fans everywhere. Konami announced on Monday that they would be announcing a full week of announcements for the Metal Gear Solid universe. What did we get? We got two Metal Gear Online related announcements, Metal Gear Solid 4 'Greatest Hits' edition release, and the release of Metal Gear Solid on the PSN. The Shadow Moses pack was known about for over a week and Metal Gear Solid landing on PSN was known for even longer."

I'm not let down. I still get to play MGS4 and all the other ones plus some new ones coming out in the future.

Trophy support would have been nice, but luckily the lack of Trophy support doesn't make the game play any worse than it did when I first bought it...

i couldn't care less about trophies but i was honestly expecting them to announce em though

too bad none of those announcements interest me i don't see why they would

Hell that Emblem is so much better then a trophy cause its so hard to obtain that is a good reason to re play it, plus hell the gameplay is just pure awesome, old games didn't have trophys or accomplishments but you still went back and played them, then again that is just me

No, not just you. All the MGS talk got me playing through again for the BB emblem(not tht I've got it cos I'm useless!)and, tbh, though trophies are great an all I think I'll be back for more soon with or without them.

Trophies tend, imo, to get people playing through games they wouldn't have usually bothered with twice-i.e the weaker games(in general). The better games would have gotten more plays through anyway. The only really good game that trophy support ariving actually helped was Uncharted-lots of people picked up the greatest hits pack when it happened and ND got some new fans to boot. Now, more people know of MGS so the impact would be less if Konami did it but still, there would be a blip in sales and for the effort of a few trophies whyever not?

Konami missed the boat a little and the only MGO announcement we wanted was the end of those fekkin' ID's.

I've gotten all the emblems in Metal Gear Solid, bout 5-7 playthroughs. I'm not going to play again in the near future unless they introduce trophies. That excludes MGO.

Yeah I was really hoping for a MGS4 trophy announcement. I downloaded MGS from the PSN store, and as I was playing (and loving it) I was thinking how great it would be if the MGS4 trophy patch showed up while I was playing MGS so I could go from one masterpiece to another. I still might do that. Konami... get on it.

Well honestly, we weren't really supposed to know about Metal Gear Solid coming to the PSN so soon, and Konami didn't exactly plan on making "announcements of announcements", but once Playstation Lifestyle leaked it months ago (along with Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil coming to PSN), we all knew about it.

I was waiting for a possible Trophy patch to play through MGS4 again, but if a Trophy Patch wasn't announced by now, it's probably not gonna happen, so I'm going to start playing through it again pretty soon. Trophies are a nice addition to a game, but I've played countless games over the years multiple times without Trophies/Achievements.

The majority of the Metal Gear Solid 4 team is working on MGS: Peace Walker, and at the Tokyo Game Show this year, a bunch of reps from gaming sites need to pummel Kojima with MGS4 Trophy questions... if they do that, then I think MGS4 trophies could still possibly be a reality because Kojima has always been about pleasing his fans.... Kojima did MGS3 when he said MGS2 would be his last because of fan request, then did the same with MGS4 when he said MGS3 would be the last.... that's why I believe the key to MGS4 trophies is through Kojima and his MGS4 team.

I love MGS4 with or without trophies and to call it a failure is just your opinion because many of us who play MGO2 everyday this was a awesome week. We got a free map when we didn't even deserve it and the much needed 1.33 patch.

While there is still bugs with MGO2 its much better now than it was when it first launch. So I am happy.

I really don't see the big deal about MGS trophies...I mean it's a great game, but they're just trophies. Besides, they'd all be based on the ranks at the end and with that they'd all be freaking hard

konami announcements suxed big time... it's been over a year and I still remember sony announced trophies were coming to PS3, just a couple of weeks before MGS4 release date. konami promised trophies since then and now... all we get it's old news...

Just wondering: When they said a week of MGS announcements, did they mean just Mon.-Fri, or were they talking about the FULL week?

It might tell if they are done with the announcements just yet, and if the trophy thing could still be on the table.
