Fallout 3 - Do you know the full Story?

As part 2 of gameplayer's Fallout 3 week they have constructed a complete timeline of all the events in the Fallout mythology thus far. Great reading for fans of the originals or excited about the threequel.

"We're betting a rather large chunk of you haven't played Fallout before. It did come out over a decade ago… and two generations of home consoles ago… and even then, only on the PC. Those of you who have played it are no doubt avid fans, as it was hard not to be impressed with this influential series. Either way, in the lead up to the long awaited third release in the series we thought a recap of Fallout's hypothetical future would be in order."

1 - "New Plague"?
Is that canon or is that something that Bethesda added to the timline? It's not ringing any bells.

WTF!? I'm with you man.
Where was this "New Plague". Also, the whole thing seems like Bethesda's take on canon. I don't know. I don't remember some other parts either.

Also, they did't talk about the real purpose of the "Vaults". The different uses of each that Persident explains at the end of Fallout 2.
And finally, why the heck is Fallout 2's story part so short?

I'm excited for this game though...I never really played the series, I was more of an RTS/Shooter gamer when this series was out.

Hopefully we can all enjoy Fallout 3. Most of the story is there but there are some missing details.

The biggest one is from the ending of Fallout 2. When The Chosen One (Player) finds the President, there is a great dialogue session. The President explains that the Vaults were not just shelters. They were some kind of TEST grounds where US goverment could performs some tests on the people inside. They used the men and women of each vault is their test subjects. Also, not one form of test. Goverment monitored them and their social life. Biological life. Anything.

There was a vault with 199 women inside and only one man (Talk about heaven :) ). Then, there was another with only one woman... and 199 men... gulp.
Every vault was like a sick test / playground for the goverment. Also, they had sheltered themselvs in a completely different place and hadn't ventured out of Vault without Power Armors so the people at Enclave's Rig considered themselves the pure ones and only group of people that should be allowed to live. They looked at any other human (Including the player, people of Arroyo and people of Vault 13) as inferior mutants that shouldn't be part of a new world.

In other words... they HAD to be killed.

That's
