Is there any news on what it will offer for the FPS genre besides awesome graphics?

I'm just curious what might make it a buy instead of a rental.

Resistance 2 plans to offer 8-player co-op, which is unheard of, so really, that seems like the better bet at this point.

Though I did really like Killzone: Liberation for the PSP. Honestly I'd rather see another tactical shooter like that than yet-another FPS.

I'm glad they'll be coming out slightly separated from one another. KZ2 looks more sci-fi, with vehicles and an emphasis on dirty post-apocalyptic sci-fi technology. It's a bleak, grey world that smacks of squad based action. R2 looks more story oriented, with the emphasis on your lone adventure.

Both will have multiplayer differences that will make one appeal to you more than the other, but they both look like fantastic fun online. I for one can't wait to see, and play, both games.

Do u think killzone 2 got pushed back so Sony can have a great line up ready for 09 too? Since Resistance 2 and Haze are on the way this year, Killzone 2 and God Of War 3 to follow it up and don't forget Final Fantasy 13 with Grand Turismo 5.

KZ1 engaging universe that was somewhat limited by the PS2 hardware... still a great game that most people passed over.
If you find it in a bargin bin pick it up and you won't regret it.
Killzone:Liberation is a PSP masterpiece (and shows the growth of the franchise)

Well, I guess Killzone 2 did get pushed to 2009. However, I'm just glad that it's coming out early 2009 and not mid-late 2009 though.

Delaying Killzone 2 to early 2009 was probably the best decision because of Resistance 2 coming in November, and 2 high profile game titles coming like Killzone 2 and Resistance near the same time frame, it would affect sales.

I'm a little disappointed that Killzone 2 didn't make a 2008 release because I was expecting it this year, but when it comes out next year, it will definanlty blow everyone away.

Everybody that bought Call of Duty 4 for the PS3 had BETTER be getting both Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 and that's all I have to say. We PS3 owners must support the exclusive PS3 games, screw multiplatform.

WHY does every game ever released have to offer something NEW to the genre to some of you people?

why can't a good game just be a good game?

games like Resident Evil 4, God of War, Gears of War, etc didn't really add anything new to their respective genres, but they were fantastic games nonetheless.

i'd choose a great game over forced innovation anyday. i don't want a developer to try and innovate just for the sake of innovation. if innovation stems from their design (ie, what GTAIII did for the industry 8 years ago), then GREAT. i'm all for it.

but first and foremost, i want the developer to concentrate on creating the game they wanted to created, and a good game at that.

i've been playing video games for a long time (since i was 6 years old, way back in 1985), and i've seen games develop from 2D blips and bloops on the screens, so fully complex 3D models that are almost indistinguishable from real life.

on the gameplay end, i've seen games evolve from flat, top down 2D adventures, to fully rendered worlds that capture the realism of the real world in ways i never thought possible back then (ie, GTAIV's superbly realized Liberty City).

i don't require every game out there to reach that pinnacle. it's a selfish, unrealistic goal. developers are only human. they can only do so much, with the resources and talent they have, regardless of epic budgets, or small budgets.

i just want to have a fun time with my games. and if they look good and happen to revolutionize or add things to a genre, then so much the better. but those expecting every game to be groundbreaking must have some very VERY small game libraries
