Killzone 2 release date announced

At Sony's gamer day today it has been confirmed that Killzone 2 will be released in February 2009.

I guess we won't be seeing the KZ2 vs. GeoW2 throwdown we were all expecting/hoping for.

It's a minor loss to the PS3's 2008 line-up, but there are still enough potentially-great games coming out that it shouldn't really matter.

Sort of like how I was almost happy GTA4 was delayed last October because I had enough upcoming 360 games to worry about the rest of the year.

I never knew they had a set date before this announcement. So therefore its not delayed as some might want to think. Samething happened with a few other games. The devs say "were aiming for fall or winter" doesnt mean its an exact date. So for those who are hating just play your box and be happy. No need to complain.

Sony has been hyping this game for over 3 years. Remember the CGI video at E3? How can it take that long? We will have 2 Gears of War games on the xbox in less time. I liked Resistance but come on. I love shooters but where are the good exclusive PS3 shooters? This better be some kind of good because it has been labeled the "XBOX Killer". That may be because when it comes out, there will already be another xbox.

I beg to differ.... If all three are coming out around x-mas time, I WILL BUY!!! LOL It'll sell, just like I'll end up buying Gears II and R:II. But I do agree that from a corporate decision point, that it's better to not "BLOW YOUR LOAD" all during x-mas. It's better to ride a continuous high all the way through 2010 as Kill Zone 2 and FFXIII will both be scheduled for next year..... not to mention God of War III. Man, it's good to be a PS3 owner.

HAHAHA february sounds like a perfect date for more delays. It happens all the time; if a game is scheduled to release before christmas, they will usually try their hardest to release it, no matter how unfinished it is. If a game is put to Q1 it often slips past because there's not really much loss in releasing it a couple of months late. Maybe killzone can make it out before home though LOL

again huh? I still dont understand where exactly anyone got the previous release date from, Sony have never stated a solid release date other than "hopefully 08".

All the release dates come from 3rd party speculation. Feb 09 is the FIRST official release date.

Actually, it's strange, last year some of the big exclusives for PS3 in 2008 were

GT5
FF XIII
KZ2

and now there's

Resistance 2
Motorstorm 2
LittleBigPlanet

as well so it's sill a GREAT lineup, but a lot of games that have been anticipated since BEFORE the console's launch are _still_ not released, and some are getting sequels?! I can see that if Killzone 2 is _not_ THE most graphically impressive game we've ever seen when it comes out, it is going to be ridiculed. Hence the delays I guess ;)

I knew KZ2 would be delayed as soon as SOCOM got a 9/16 release date and Insomniac suprised us with a late '08 date for Resistance2. With HAZE in May and MGO in June, I think I'll manage. Can't wait to play as a Chimera in R2 though!

Finally, a release date. Feb aint to bad for me, its a little longer than I wanted to wait, but still there are already plenty of games in Q4 to keep me going.

Dropping KZ2 and FF in the first quarter would be the perfect way to kick off 2009.

I agree February is a great time to release KZ2...RFOM2 will just fill that gap perfectly.

but I just dont think we will be seeing FF13 in Q1 of 09 I think it will be like KZ2 and GOW3..and FF13 will be in the fall of 09..and GT5 will probably get an April release date.

But GOW3 should see a march release ..im just basing this off the fact that ...the last two in the series has been released in March....but if not then im guessing a fall 09 release date along with FF13...

btw what about 8days , The Getaway 3 , Heavy Rain and LA Noire ?

That a pretty ridiculous dev time like we saw the first trailer in 2005 and I'm assuming there was creative development before that so I'd imagine KZ2 has been in development for 5 years now. So the question is who will reign supreme KZ2, R2 or GeOW2. Considering the latter two have only been in development max 2 years KZ2 better freaking blow me away.
